How is someone supposed to impersonate the Cocoa Brovas, b?
Yeah, Beans is a self-destructive dumbass. Anyone remember when MTV aired that show on Jay-Z around the time Vol. 3 was out....forget the name of the show, but they aired them on lots of artists. And Jay was at a club with Beans and he had to go through the crowd to get Beans and keep him from fighting over some dumb shit. LOL. That was like 99, you knew right then and there what Beans' deal was.

Found it, it was MTV Diary. Beans incident starts around 13:30. http://vimeo.com/17015313

As for impersonating Smif N Wessun....c'mon. You've listened to them right, lol. Use terms like rude boy and batty boy, say "wan" a lot, like who wan come test. Throw in some patois, lots of gun references but don't say gun, say "pound" or "trey eight", etc.

And Joe Budden? He doesn't count, he was on the label for like 10 seconds as far as I know, and that came after their run was basically up. I don't even associate him with the ROC and had to think hard when he was brought up above, to even remember him being on the label.

Dips had their run too. I mean, they pretty much ran shit on a street rap level in the middle of the decade.

Not sure they were ever built for pop-rap superstardom, if that's the point. I mean, what should they have done that they didn't?

Yeah it's based off the movie Fresh which is a pretty good movie IMO.

Cam left because Purple Haze got 0 promotion, album barely made #20 on the hot 100. It would have broken down anyway soon (Jones is disloyal, Santana is lazy), but still.

Kanye can be a strong lyricist, It's just he's one of those artists that chooses not to.

Oh & Good Kid, Mad City. Great album. Loved all the songs, and it really told a story of Compton, that didn't sound so thug oriented. I could relate to it and I'm not even raised in the ghetto. The skits were cool also, especially in Real where his mom is telling him on how to succeed in rap.

Whatever happened to CRS? IIRC, in 2007 they were gonna drop an album but I don't know what the hell happened to that.

US Placers was a hot track imo

Child Rebel Soldier? Their album probably will never come out.

Just like the All City Chess Club

Although at least for All-City CC, Lupe said that he hopes to be able to get everyone together to drop a mixtape since an album would be too difficult due to different labels.

Getting into a fight in a club and threatening a tattoo artist doesn't mean someone goes around pretending to be a fake thug, you're grasping at straws and being a blind hater. So what if he appeared in a Justin Bieber video? Once again, Drake never claimed to be a gangster, he doesn't make gangsta rap music, so I really don't know what the fuck you're expecting him to do. Snoop Dogg has made songs with all kinds of pop artists including people like Katy Perry, why aren't you bashing him calling him a fake thug and saying he has no street cred? As for Drake, do you expect him to hang out in the hood with a posse full of gangbangers and appear in Waka Flocka videos?

And speaking of street cred what kind of fucking street cred does Hopsin have? The guy wears colored contacts and skateboards...oh he's so "street". Fuck outta here. Hopsin is nothing more than another hipster rap fan fad and soon those guys will move on to another rapper who's "different", like they always do.

No one is being force fed Drake. If you don't like the guy, you don't have to listen it's pretty simple. As for him being all over radio, Billboard, YouTube, etc. You act as if that's a bad thing that he wants to be well known and make more money and that his record label pushes him to the top. He's one of the most popular rappers in the game, what do you expect? Of course he's gonna be all over TV and the radio, that's common sense man. Do you expect them to put Hopsin or Joey Bada$$ there? Like I said, common sense is they'll put guys like Drake, Wayne, Rick Ross, etc. because they're popular, they sell records, so of course they would be all over Billboard and the radio. USE YOUR BRAIN.

While I agree that the majority of YMCMB make crappy music, Drake is not one of them and the only reason why he gets shit is because he's mainstream. If he were an underground rapper we wouldn't hear this shit about how he's so fake through all these internet rap forums.
Snoop Dogg isn't a fake thug though, that is the difference. I can live with Cube doing the "Are we there yet?" stuff now, he has a family...that kind of stuff is bound to happen eventually. They still keep true to their roots.

Hopsin worked his ass off to get to where he is now. He had to deal with the ins and outs of the music industry by putting up with the bullshit from Ruthless Records while a douche like Drake gets big from a kids show in Canada and a Bieber video (even worse) I can't wait until these YMCMB douchebags are finally irrelevant.

Drake is a manufactured Pop artist in the same mold as a Nsync or Justin Bieber. He had to get his rise through being on Degrassi and being friends with Bieber. Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg rose up through talking about the street poverty, raising awareness to Compton about Police brutality etc. Do you see the difference? It's probably time for you to use the brain that you have...

You know that record companies are run by old men who like to further the status quo? They interested in bringing out new artists unless they would kiss ass to Lil Wayne. It's that simple.
