Yeah, it was definitely a hard song/diss.
I think part of Eiht not recovering from it, was that type of music as a whole lost popularity in the 2nd half of the 90's. I feel like a lot of west coast gangsta rap acts in a similar lane to Eiht that were hitting in the early-mid 90's, kind've faded in the late 90's.
Not sure how many Cyhi fans are in here but the freeystyle that Good Music just did on Hot 97 with flex is worth checking out on YouTube. Think the mic is still smoking from the bars Cyhi dropped. Kanye really needs to do more with him.
Listening to Ces Cru's "13". Lots of eastern sounding beats, odd rhyme schemes, varied flows. Subject matter is simple but not uninteresting. I don't know why these guys aren't more known.
Lasers don't exist to me. I wish this had a decent cover. It's actually putting me off wanting to own it. Especially seeing how I had to wait a week longer. Pretty long, but it's solid. Not as memorable as his first 2 on a first listen, but it's nice that it's a step in the right direction.
