Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Damn I didn't know any of those existed

Also, can somebody point me to the best Snoop album after Doggystyle? I never gave any of them other than DoggyStyle more than one listen because they were all either average with a few good songs in them or disappointing. After listening to The Chronic and 2001 today I want to give Snoop another shot

Top Dogg and Blue Carpet Treatment were both good albums, and Paid Da Cost to Be da Boss.

Last Meal was pretty good too.

Last Meal is my favorite outside of Doggystyle. Some crazy beats by Dre, Scott Storch, Timbaland & Battlecat on there.

Lay Low is a crazy track.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

No Limit had some crazy albums while Snoop was there.

They're also remembered for their in house graphic designers Pen & Pixel which created some of the worst album covers of all time.

IMO, No Limit Top Dogg is his second best. Despite being in No Limit, he got a lot of freedom with that album. I also like Doggfather, Last Meal, Paid tha Cost, Blue Carpet Treatment and Doggumentary. Ego Trippin also has a few nice tracks like "Press Play".

I really don't think he has a consensus 2nd best album. Blue Carpet Treatment did get quite a bit of hype when it dropped as his best since Doggystyle. I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

I consider Top Dogg his 2nd best because it's got what I want when I listen to Snoop.....mostly that hardcore west coast sound. Some of the other albums with Pharell all over them are good.....but I prefer that real west sounding beats for Snoop. Also Top Dogg(and 2001) was the album that brought Snoop back in 99. He had the Doggfather disappoinment(not a bad album, just couldn't follow Doggystyle and too many mediocre songs) and the mess that was Game is To Be Sold.....Top Dogg was to Snoop what Stillmatic was to Nas, IMO. It re-established him as a dope rapper, and then he continued with a pretty decent streak of albums with Last Meal, Paid Da Cost, R&G, and Blue Carpet.

Some of my favorites off Top Dogg:
