Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread
Hopefully the cyphers are good this year.
So far it's confirmed that they're having a West Coast Cypher that will feature Snoop, Xzibit, E-40, Kendrick Lamar, YG and some others. It's also been confirmed they're having a Ruff Ryders Cypher that will feature DMX, Eve and some others and from the snippet I saw of the RR cypher, Eve was killing it. I don't really listen to female rappers like that but she's got a good flow.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread
Overall, I think 2008 was the best.
But for a single cypher, I think it's a tie between the G.O.O.D. Music Cypher in 2010 and the Shady 2.0 Cypher last year. I go back and forth as to which one is better.

Shady 2.0 beats GOOD lyrically, but GOOD had way more creativity, and way more individual flavors.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread
Just got done watching the Hip Hop Awards, outside of the cyphers, and the tribute to Chris Lighty the show was weak, but what do you really expect from BET?
Hands down the best cypher was the RZA's cypher with Childish Gambino, Joey Bada$$, A$AP Rocky and this chick named Angel Haze. The West Coast Cypher with Snoop, DJ Quik, Kendrick Lamar, E-40, Xzibit and Kurupt was also really good. Outside of them, some other rappers who did good IMO: Eve, Cassidy, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, Mac Miller & Trae Tha Truth. There were some other good ones but I can't remember at this moment.

I also would say B.O.B, T.I and Hopsin did good. Pretty crappy award show as expected.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread
The cyphers are up on BET.com.
Rocky killed it.
Grand Hustle and Ruff Ryders were weak IMO. Love how Iggy Azealia got booed lawl.

French Montana says beef is bad for business when it comes to 50 Cent, comments on the past beef between Lil Wayne and Pusha T.
G-Unit head honcho 50 Cent is no stranger to beef, from a good natured album sales battle with Kanye West to his past, turbulent riffs with former G-Unit members including Game and Young Buck, beef has always seemed to makes it way to the Queens rapper.
While 50 Cent may not be too concerned with his past issues with artists, fellow New York City spitter French Montana recently spoke on Fifty’s rap beef being bad for business and the reason why he believes Rick Ross has become more successful than the rapper.
“I feel like beef hurt him. I feel like it helped Ross unite people,” Montana explained during an interview with Complex.com. “That’s why Maybach Music is one of the biggest labels. It just makes sense…Of course, Ross is on his fifth album. And like I said, he’s only getting bigger. This is going to be Ross’ first platinum album. He never went platinum. So when 50 came up, 50 sold 10 million. Then after his first album he just kept on going down. You think 50 could come out and sell 10 million now?”

ROSS is more successful than Fifty?
Ross will never be on Fifty's level; success wise or lyrically. He's just a giant, fat fake turd.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread
I can't stand this wave of new shitty Hip Hop. When will it end? So frustrating.
