that's really a two-way statement

now granted Eazy never wrote his lyrics with NWA (it was all written by Ice Cube) , but he did write his own lyrics post-NWA , It's On 187 Dre Killa , Home 4 Tha Sick, Straight off the streetz of mothaphukkin Compton

IMO "It's On" was his greatest work , Real mothaphukkin G's , Still-a-..... , It's on , Down 2 tha last Roach

he had a sick flow in that album with dope rhymes , really underrated

the other two albums ? not so much

of course I won't put Eazy in a top 10 rappers of all time list .. but when it comes to impact he probably has the biggest impact on rap's game, after all he has the domino effect : No Eazy means NWA or Gangsta rap exploding, no Eazy means no Dre , No Dre means no Deathrow , which means no Snoop or Dogg Pound , ultimately no Eminem or 50 Cent

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I don't understand the "Eazy was a terrible rapper" comments. Sure, he's nowhere near the greatest, but he was good at doing it and few rappers have the personality of him on a microphone.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Eazy-E wasn't a good rapper, couldn't even write his own lyrics, didn't have a good flow, didn't even have good beats to make up for it. Just a crappy rapper, if he wasn't an old-school rapper he'd be frowned upon by most hip-hop fans.

Well, I beg to differ. His beats were awesome, he delivered his lyrics just fine riding a beat and him writing his lyrics is not a big issue for me as long as one can deliver them without sounding like shit.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I don't really have a problem with someone not writing their own lyrics if they at least have a good flow and rapped on good beats. Eazy did neither, his flow was trash, his voice was annoying, his beats were average at best.

If Eazy wasn't:
A. Dead
B. Old school rapper

He would be frowned upon. But you factor those two in, people think he's a legend. I disagree.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Ice-Cube was the best out of NWA

And Notorious weren't you the same one who said Kanye wasn't a good rapper?

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

He's a legend anyways just for his contributions as the leader of N.W.A (not as the rapper) and starting Ruthless Records. He's pretty much the godfather of gangsta rap and that makes him a legend.

I personally like his high-pitched voice, enjoy his flow and his beats are great when he's in N.W.A and dope g-funk shit when he's on his own in the 90s. You can't seriously try to tell me the beats on .....z4Life were average. I'd argue that they are Dre's best beats ever alongside The Chronic and Doggystyle.

And while you're saying this here, do you seriously think Kanye is a top 32 rapper? Because that would take the credibility away for me. At least while I enjoy Eazy's albums, I'm not going to rank him in any top lists as a rapper.

I completely agree with this. I never understood his appeal.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

MMG really isn't that bad it's just Ross. Wale & Stalley are already good, and Meek Mill represents the streets well. He got a cosign from Nas.
