Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I don't know what it is but I'm not a fan of the new trends in hip-hop. I want to like them, I just don't.

Rap - Started From The Bottom was awful IMO, 5AM In Toronto was amazing though. Big fan of Big Sean and J.Cole but Wiz Khalifa's not amazing, I can't take to Kendrick apart from Swimming Pools and I don't like A$AP Rocky's style either. My type of rap is broad - Kanye, Jay-Z, Pac, Biggie, Eminem, Bow Wow, 50, Game, Fabolous.

RnB - My favourite genre but I can't take to JT apart from Mirrors, Frank Ocean apart from Swim Good and Thinking About You. This new type has a lack of soul and the beats are drowny IMO. Wouldn't class them as RnB myself, more new soul. My type of RnB is Jagged Edge, Tyrese, old Usher, Chris Brown's Rnb etc.

Anyone agree? I really don't know what it is. I mean I like A LOT of Hip-Hop but lately I'm not feeling a lot of it. Same with Rihanna's music, Unapologetic doesn't touch Loud and Good Girl Gone Bad IMO. Don't get me started on the Dance songs either lol.

LOL Rihanna.

Agreed on Frank Ocean tbh. Good production and decent lyricist and a big fan of Super Rich Kids, but yeah.

Kendrick's stuff is hit and miss for me. Brilliant lyricist tho. J Cole is a'ight and A$AP I agree on not a massive fan.

I feel like you're almost contradicting yourself. You don't like Kendrick or A$AP but you like Bow Wow? I agree that Started from the Bottom is trash though, but Drake makes decent music.

Chris Brown? The guy doesn't even make R&B music anymore, he makes corny pop music. Have you heard that "Turn Up the Music" stuff? I also don't consider Justin Timberlake an R&B artist.

But everyone has their own tastes so, to each his own.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

What's all this talk of A$AP Rocky? I've only heard "Problems" and that's one of the worst songs I've ever heard. Is his other stuff this terrible?

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Problems is his worst song by far. A song he made to cater to the mainstream audience, I guess. If you're trying to get into A$AP Rocky, that's the last song to listen to.

About to listen to French Montanas Mac & Cheese 3 for the first time, that "Diamonds" song put me on. Coles verse, good god. Renegaded
