Its just a term, I'm not saying my music tastes are better than anyones. Its just the general perception of hiphop supposing to be about "real talk" life etc which is why I used that. Its just a term I used so people can get a better grasp as to what the song is about. Maybe I should have put it in quotations which would be my mistake and for that I do apologize
That "perception" changes depending on who you talk to though. Hip hop has never been about one theme or style. There's a reason why Waka Flocka, Kendrick Lamar, and 2 Chainz can all coexist and prosper at the same time.

Agreed. The YOLO of 2013. I don't understand why people want to pretend like they had it rough. Guess most people just want sympathy...or attention in general really. Funniest part is, everyone that says it is either a spoiled teenager or those who are STILL at the bottom.

Which is the funniest part.
Hell even Kendrick Lamar himself, who is a fan of guys like Pac, Nas & Em, was also a fan of guys like Snoop & Wayne who popularized the radio rap we see today. A true Hip-Hop fan likes all of its dimensions. Hip-Hop started out at block parties, and became a mainstream juggernaut through the 2Chainz & Trinidad James of the world.
Em is in the same category as Snoop and Wayne, he was/is just as much "commercialized" or "mainstream" as they were (are in Wayne's case)
just because he was controversial doesn't make him a non-mainstream rapper like Nas
(not pissing on mainstream hip-hop as clearly there are both good and bad tracks but just clarifying about Eminem)

Capo has me right now. Hey, he's still at it. But you won't catch me listening to any Jim Jones song past 2004 on my ipod until DI3 drops

Nas is a mainstream rapper.
No, Eminem isn't in the same category as Snoop & Wayne. I hardly hear his songs on the radio. He's really not like the Waynes & Snoops of the world, people who make their songs catered directly for the radio.
