You've been on my dick for years, following me around. Odd. It's almost getting creepy at this point. I must've really hurt your feelings at some point, because it's just not normal male behavior to follow someone around like this. That's some scorned female shit. I apologize for hurting you, now leave me alone.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

One more thing I've gotta address, because I've seen others say things like this too, and I'm trying to figure out why....

"The whole point of hiphop is that it reaches all races, relgiions etc"

Since when? Seriously, THAT'S the whole point of hip hop? You listen to rap music, and THAT'S what you take away? I'm willing to listen, if someone can actually back that up. Where do you get that from?

I think it's more like, music in general is meant to be universal and race, religion, etc. doesn't matter. However, I submit that hip hop is BY FAR the most racially based genre of music, in that "the black experience" is an enormous part of the music. Like, it's not even close. From how it started, why it started, from early records like "The Message"(if you think I mean Nas, just bounce now) to "F The Police" to PE, etc to the rhythms to the slang, to the dress. It's a far more racially based genre of muisc than any others.

Yes it has evolved and changed as everything does, but that shit is still at it's core. It's open to all, no question. But don't come at me saying "it's 2013" as a reason to downplay blackness and give me some kumbaya bullshit about "the point of hip hop is it's for all races, religions".....no, that really never was the point. You made that up. Other genres that blacks created were taken over and basically stolen and the "blackness" was removed from the genre.....it ain't happening again. Know your role.

Generic gun/tough talk over a wack beat. Doesn't do much for me. Generic, mediocre gun/tough talk rappers are cool.....if they're rapping over dope ass beats. This ain't it though.

As an aside, Fat Joe rapped over a video game sounding beat and it was an uproar among underground fans.....but that had Ashanti on the hook and got airplay, so....

Yeah, top to bottom it's my favourite as well. 'Package Store' might actually be my favourite KRIT song.

Maybe.

I will say I wasn't disappointed with the album initially....I liked it quite a bit initially and played it a lot last summer. However, it hasn't held up like the other 3, and doesn't have as much replay value.....basically, it's just not as strong of a project. I do really like some of the songs on it (Rich Dad Poor Dad, I Got This, Hydroplanin, the outro, Money On The Floor to name a few). But there are some flat out bad songs and bad hooks like Yeah Dats Me....don't know why songs like that made the cut.
I think I'm one of the few people on the planet that wasn't disappointed with Live From The Underground. I mean, I don't really have any interest in listening to 'Yeah Dats Me' at any point (although if that came on in my car I'd usually turn the volume way up and roll the windows down like a first class prick...mostly just to see the reaction of some people), and there's songs that I kind of need to be in a specific mood in order to enjoy/not skip, but on the whole I like it a lot. Title track (I'm a mark for harmonicas), 'Cool 2 Be Southern', 'Don't Let Me Down', Hydroplaning', 'If I Fall', 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad', 'Praying Man' and the outro (more harmonicas) are all songs that I like a lot.
