Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

It is sad but she was always fucked up in the head. You couldn't possibly listen to her music she came out making and think " now that's a woman with her shit together and a level head." Too bad because back then she could spit, and had star quality.

It's sad but hardly surprising.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I think Long Live Asap is the best album of 2013 so far. I liked it more than most albums in 2012 also..

Muscle Car Chronicles is terrible IMO. It's Curren$y trying to create a rap album where he's spitting over rock beats. It's a good idea, but terrible execution. It's the only Spitta tape I'd call terrible. But you may like it, so check it out.

Cyhi is one of the best rappers on GOOD Music, but he gets little to no promotion at all. I'd bet any money his GOOD Music album never comes out.

I don't know, maybe it's the old school NY in me but I expect NY rappers to sound like NY rap. To me, he doesn't. Fair or not, that's how I feel.
Honestly, when I first heard him I thought he was from Texas (well, the south, not specifically Texas). The whole "southern drawl" thing. Obviously isn't as pronounced as Lil Flip or some shit, but that was the impression I got.

Same here. Hate that shit. Cats from NY rapping in a southern drawl...LOL. It's one of the reasons I can't listen to Drake. He's from Toronto and raps in a southern drawl.

These cats come off like they're doing a bad karaoke impression of their favorite rappers, yet they're dead serious with it.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I don't have a problem with guys like A$AP being from NY but rapping like they're from down south, just like I don't have a problem with guys like Jay Electronica that are from the south but rap like they're from up north.

Really dig Blue Scholars, n' Evidence. Any other rappers in that vein I should listen too? Thanks.

Kim looked best in 96. Right now its looking as if the Natalie Naughton version on Notorious is looking better than the original.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I like A$AP Rocky, but from what I heard, the album doesn't sound all that stunning. All I heard was tid bits from Pandora though, so I can't really say much until I actually listen to it.
