I understand trap and hype music is looked down upon but I geniunely enjoy most of Chief Keef's music. Obviously I enjoy it for what it is. I certainly don't listen for the lyrics but I really enjoy beats and punch lines.
I fuck with some of Sosa shit, maybe 3 songs but hes done. For an artist with a buzz like him, 50,000 units first week is a fail.

Fat Trel on the otherhand, hes official. Was in a group with Wale back in the day and lately, DMV has been more supportive of Fat Gleesh and Slutty Boyz than Wale and MMG.

Keef's buzz was for the dumb shit he did and said, not for his music (except for one single that was remixed WAY better by GOOD Music). No one was expecting his album to actually be good. He should feel blessed he sold as much as he did.

I expect him to have a Soulja Boy style fall from grace. Except Soulja managed to stay relevant for longer and Keef seems to have law enforcement up his ass 24/7.

Regardless, he had a buzz, everybody knows his music was trash. He's controversial and that's why Jimmy Iovine signed him because in some ways, controversy sells. He just lacked the actual talent to prosper as a musician and at the rate he's going, will either be locked up for murder or murdered himself by this time next year. He's got no future in hip hop and never had one.

The same can be said for a lot of current rappers. Do they have a buzz for the talent or the dumb shit they do? Or the willingness to sell out, for a life of fame or fortune?

Believe it or not, a guy like Chief Keef, his only purpose is to keep this generation dumb, because his music has no advancement, it's just controversial. Music is very influential, and based on the heavily played artists on the airwaves today, it should come to no surprise why 75% of it isn't very tolerable, has no substance or merit to it.

But at the same time, I'm not gonna say guys like that shouldn't be in the game, as their should be an alternative for everybody. At least 50,000 like Keef and by them singles being hits, Iovine WILL profit, which is all he cares about.

Co-signed with everything.

Digging into some Kid N Play. God damnit late 80s/early 90s rap was FUNKY. Always love listening to it. Always feels so organic and fun. You can always just sit back and chill out to it. Beats are funky fresh.

He must have not felt like going to court cause he definitely had some decent points he could have defended with.

Ethically, he should have talked to a legend like Finesse before making that. Legally, him sampling that song had nothing to do with Finesse because that song doesn't even belong to him. He himself sampled that shit when he made the original track.

Oh and the main man himself had this to say on the best 1 Train verse:

Quote:
A$AP Rocky says he believes Big K.R.I.T. stole the show on his all-star ensemble

Even though his debut album LongLiveA$AP only just hit shelves earlier today, A$AP Rocky's crew-cut "1 Train" has been garnering a lot of talk from listeners. Now, in a recent interview with Hot 97's Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg via RapRadar, Rocky explains who he thinks has the best verse.

Of an ensemble featuring Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson and himself, Rocky said he thinks it's Big K.R.I.T. who has the winning verse on the song. Rocky also spoke on the song's title, explain that he viewed each emcee along the 1 train which he rode growing up.

"[K.R.I.T.] rips the whole track," he said. "I'ma be honest, I think it is [the best verse], man. Me and [Ebro Darden] were going back and forth about it before…we was debating 'cus it's just like, you can't really say one it better than the other, because everybody is different on it and you can't really compare one rapper to another…I'ma have to go with K.R.I.T. though, man. I told him to do 16 bars, and he did about 120."

He added, "I was just thinking of each artist as a different train stop, and when you hear that beat, it just brings me back to like - well, for me, it brings me back to being at the bus stop or being on the train early in the morning, cold, mad at life on the way to school late. I'm showing up third period - that's the 1 train. Anything is better than the 1 train."
