I even know a few who prefer it to Illmatic but those guys are either more into the mafioso sub-genre and prefer Reasonable Doubt/OB4Cl over Illmatic as well and they aren't really big into hip hop so its probably easier to get into if you don't have much of a rap background since it has more of a commercial/mainstream appeal and production doesn't sound outdated.
I'm one of those guys lol, I just feel like it's aged better personally.

You're fucken damn right, you've rustled my jimmies & I assume everyone else's!!! I tell you what, I'll pay your airfare over to Melbourne, it will only be a one way ticket though, because I will KILL you, you child molesting fuckwit!!!
At the core, not really. He was too smart, passionate, caring, and deep to lose himself in that bullshit. But I mean it's not like he was a total pussy either. Dealing with what he dealt with not only during his career, but throughout his entire life naturally just irritated him and Suge gassing his head up didn't help either.
Regardless, I really don't want to talk about rappers being "real" because it's irrelevant. My main point in all that was Ross' personality comes off to me as disingenuous and extremely irritating. Nothing about him or his work entertains me in any way. That's all.

Shit's irrelevant anyway. Pac's appeal, at least to me, was his intellect, strong spirit, and his colorful, larger than life personality. Never was a gangster rapper.

People think because Pac was too much of an intellectual though that he couldn't have done any criminal things, which I don't thiink makes sense. But as someone said above Pac never claimed anything he couldn't back up. No one tested if Pac was fake but Puffy to Vibe.
On to something else. Doing Nas for a poetry project and need to find 10 songs. I'm using I Gave You Power.
Nas should be an easy one to find poetic songs for because he's got so many.
I Gave You Power is a great one.....
Memory Lane would be a great one....I drop the ancient manifested hip hop, straight off the block...what???!!
Hate Me Now was extremely poetic, especially the last verse, just ignore Puffy's hilarious rants throughout the song and focus on what Nas was spitting.
N....s fear what they don't understand, hate what they can't conquer, guess it's just the fury of man, became a monster, on top of the world, never falling, I'm as real as they come from day one forever ballin'
That's poetic as hell.
Maybe Rewind, not the greatest song, but if you're just focusing on the unique reverse storytelling aspect and what Nas was doing with language, it works.
Undying Love.....on that tragic, poetic, storytelling tip.
One Mic
Maybe the joint off untitled, forget the name(Project Roaches?) on the figurative language tip again.

And in terms of evoking feelings?? This....
I was just going to use most of Illmatic since that has 10 songs but thanks for the ideas.
