Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread
I will say this, Lupe's production on Food & Liquor II is the best it's ever been. One of the problems Food & Liquor I had was that it failed to create catchy, memorable hooks. Can't say the same thing here. He also pushes really strong agendas on each track and paints terrifically detailed pictures of his thoughts and emotions as well as telling compelling stories. On my second listen and the tracks that have stuck on so far are Audubon Ballroom, Hood Now, Around My Way, B*Tch Bad, and Around My Way.
So far I'm handing it an 8.5/10 maybe 9 after this 2nd listen. Best Lupe album to date and certainly a rap album of the year candidate even though it won't win.
