J. Cole said his favorite rap song was Hold Ya Head by 2pac.

Listening to the song you can see the influence so clearly even in the beat. Didn't realize Cole also used Pac's line in the 3rd verse.

It was way different back then due to the fact that technology wasn't as advanced as it is now. Artists weren't paranoid about their albums being leaked and being shared through P2P networks.
