Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Coochie Mane is so fucking awful, just like the rest of that list, specially Jiz Khalifa.

Hip-hop I recommend are: N.W.A, Ice Cube (old albums), De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Geto Boys, Redman (specially 90s albums), Scarface, Compton's Most Wanted and UGK. Most of it is gangsta rap but it's damn good.

From the 80s, I love most of it including LL Cool J, RUN DMC, The D.O.C., Eric B. & Rakim, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, Ice-T, Slick Rick, Beastie Boys and EPMD.

For some carefree stuff, I really enjoy early 2 Live Crew and Poison Clan, but they may not be for everyone, specially the former.

B.I.G: Both albums

Dr Dre: Both Albums

DMX: First 3 albums

off the top of my head, so much more though

As for Wayne, Carter 2 and Dedication 2 are the only things I ever liked from him.
Also:

Big L - Basically anything you can find on him, but album wise both of his studio albums.

Ice Cube - Basically anything, even his new stuff, but I recommend Death Certificate, The Predator, and the War & Peace albums.

Wu-Tang Clan - I'm biased here so I tend to like anything they put out but you can't go wrong with 36 Chambers.

Method Man - Tical

And if you want a new artist to check out, check out A$AP Rocky. Has an album dropping soon and his LiveLoveA$AP mixtape was fire. He's disgusting. Check out his verse on Bath Salt from Flatbush Zombies.

In other new, just picked up F&L2, haven't listened to it yet, but for those that don't know the ENTIRE album is black. There's literally nothing on it anywhere except some record info/credits or whatever on the bottom of the back but it's small and faintly visible.

I like how every on his FB page called the album cover unoriginal and worthless, but I don't recall ever seeing an album that was completely blank. Might spark interest among newcomers. Definitely catches your attention.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

He explains the cover in "Cold War".

Agreed about Big L, only liked The Predator from Cube, agreed about the Wu, and I didn't like Tical but I need to give it another listen sometime. Haven't listened in full in a few years

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I really get into rappers who keep it real and aren't afraid to speak their mind and don't give a fuck about others opinions and Meth has always been like that so naturally what he spits just resonates with me a lot.

Like this.

People should check out K-Rino. He's a underground rap artist from Houston, and has been in the scene since the late 80's. Albums I recommend from him are Danger Zone, The Blood Doctrine, Solitary Confinement, and The Day of the Storm (I might have the title incorrect for the last one).

Also what's with all of this Future hype. Dude can't rap or sing for shit lmao.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Future is awful. Pure awful, every single one of his songs that I've heard is shit. He is worse than Soulja Boy, he sounds awful.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

So I'm reading above that Big L's albums and Cube's War and Peace albums are dope(they are two of Cube's weakest albums)..........but Amerikkkaz Most Wanted(a classic) gets no mentions.....and I'm just wondering what the hell is going on.

Big L was a talented rapper, but both his albums were 3.5/5 at best. He gets so much retroactive love on the internet, it's crazy.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I'm a big Gucci fan, always have been, since 2002. His music was more hardcore then and was a reflection of his life at the time. Not going to stop fucking with him because of a few bad songs since. And I can tolerate Future. I guess it all depends on what people are into, as I'm easier to relate to what a guy like him is saying over a guy like Lupe or Slaughterhouse.

But has anybody heard the rants from Roscoe Dash about how Kanye didn't give him credit for a track on "Cruel Summer". He's been talking reckless on Twitter about how he wrote a song for it and how he wrote "Lotus Flower Bomb" for Wale until Wale checked him and made him take his statement back.

Roscoe already sucked but he's been doing this shit for years, talking about how songs have been stolen from him or that he didn't get credit. Might as well quit rap and sign up for the next season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.
