Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

The only benefit I see coming from is mainstream exposure, but Roc Nation really hasn't done much good for their artists. Jay Elec, hasn't came out with an album yet, Cole is Cole, etc.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Jay Electronica has released one song since 2010 (Shiny Suit Theory w/Jay-Z, Dream & Chrisette Michelle).

Jay-Z and Roc Nation don't promote J. Cole at all, he pretty much created his own buzz and that's why his album sold.

The only artists that Jay-Z cares about and Roc Nation actually promotes are himself and Rihanna. Everyone else is just "S.O.L."

I guess Roc Nation is comparable to YMCMB.

Not even that though. Just treat him like he's Kendrick Lamar and let that stand on it's own.

Pretty much. You look at the artists that are either signed or managed by Roc Nation that aren't Jay-Z and Rihanna.

J. Cole - No promotion, created his own buzz and went major because of it.
Rita Ora - She actually gets promotion but no one in America cares about her music, but I heard she's big in Europe.
Jay Electronica - When's the last time he released a song? Don't worry, I'll wait...
Willow Smith - One-hit wonder.
Shakira - Has-been.
Casey Veggies - Underground for life.
M.I.A. - Has she released a song since Paper Planes back in '08?
Melanie Fiona - Gets little to no promotion.
Meek Mill & Wale - Most people don't even know they're managed by Roc Nation. If it wasn't for Rick Ross, they'd both be flops. With all due respect to both of them, no one was checking for them before MMG started making albums. Wale was a flop and Meek was an irrelevant underground artist.

No Joey don't do it. Though I'd mark to hear Jay Z and Joey work on a song together

How? Wayne, Drake & Nicki all got major hype and big time album sales on that label...

Roc Nation is comparable with Aftermath imo
