Yeah, very good rapper. Seems laid back and definitely has his head on straight. His album was very good too. Nice to see a rapper like him getting some recognition. Top current favorite rapper of mine for sure.

Speaking of current favorite rappers of mine, my current top favorite is A$ap Rocky and Joey Bada$$. Joey Bada$$ has a bright future ahead of him.

I'm actually quite surprised he's hasnt done much of anything lately..Like what was the newest thing you've heard from him or another artist he's produced a track for?
I actually just did some homework on this. Apparently he's bee doing singles for other albums, and hasn't really released his own album in the past couple years. Maybe he'll release one next year. Here's a couple that I liked.

Elzhi kills this check the technique beat.

this is rather recent.

I think it's fair to consider GKMC the Illmatic of this generation rather than the West Coast's Illmatic.
I would say GKMC is the Illmatic of the West Coast also. It's proving that a West Coast artist doesn't have to talk about gangbanging to be successful.

Didn't know Black was on Skyzoo's album..Either that or I didn't pay attention close enough..

Elzhi, man I wonder what he's up to..That Elmatic is still a dope listen to this day, but his next step is becoming a better songwriter. Just spittin non-stop over beats will only get you so far ya know?

Elzhi's made good songs at times though.

Where I'm From off the self titled Slum Village album that came out in 2005 is one of my favorites. That ones not on youtube for some reason.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Compiling a list of songs to keep me motivated to get through the day tomorrow at work since I'm working a longer shift than I'm used to. Plus I need a new CD to bump. Need some suggestions. Old/new doesn't really matter. I'm really just looking for songs that'll keep my mood up and keep me motivated.

Examples from my current playlist:

No Worries
Burn
Fuckin Problem
Otis
Racks
24k Of Gold
To Live And Die In LA
Me Against The World

Does that make The College Dropout the Midwest's Illmatic then, or Aquemini the south's Illmatic?

Talent/charisma draws. Not size.
