I don't know how to feel about this. At least he acknowledged that he's nowhere near the artist Pac was. When I think about it though, he's kinda right. How many bangers did Pac really have? 2 Of Amerikka's Most Wanted? California Love? How Do U Want It? While I'd take any of those three over any of Waka's party music, Waka does sort of specialize in that category.

I Get Around >>>>> Waka's entire catalogue x 10

Yes I agree that I Get Around is better than every single Flocka song. I guess you can classify that as a party song, I've never in my life heard it at a party but I guess it was probably at parties in 93 or whenever it came out.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Cali Love and Big Poppa are still played back to back in the clubs over here during the weekend. I hear Toss It Up and lots of Big songs all the time too. They gets lots of love I've never seen someone not pumped about them playing 90's rap.

Depends on the DJ wherever you're at though.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Came across this song in my itunes just a while ago....had it on repeat since. Forgot about this song. My favorite off that Dillagence mixtape, which was very good. My favorite thing Busta's done since the 90's.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Below the Heavens doesn't get as much recognition as it should. Such a dope album.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I don't even think Blu's rapping anymore.. He's like a filmmaker now or something. He came out with a project last year though.. I think it was just a remaster of one of his old albums but with a couple new tracks.

Below the Heavens is an amazing album though. Definitely one of my favorites of this decade tbh.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Him and Exile dropped another album together earlier this year called Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them.

It's solid, not better than Below the Heavens but a solid album.

Apparently he also dropped a mixtape earlier this year called UCLA, but I haven't heard it.

Yeah, seems to be a lack of motivation with Blu. Between supposedly putting on terrible live shows and releasing a bunch of half assed music that barely sounded finished, he kind've hurt himself.

And then there was this tweet from ?uestlove when the Roots Undun album came out......

"All you Blu RTs: every verse under went major scrutiny (@phontigallo wrote about 16 verses before we were happy) not only was he NOT in the parameters of the #UNDUN narrative but he pretty much gave up after 2 attempts. We are not in the business of hunting someone down. We are in the business of building the perfect machine. This is how we operate. Can't afford "yes men" this late in our career. Even as leaders of the group Riq & I aren't above critique (being told to go back & redo stuff countless times) perhaps next project we can have another go round w/ Blu. We're fans still."
