Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Yeah, Wayne's recent stuff is bad. And for that matter, speaking of that camp, I just recently gave Nicki Minaj's album a good listen after only giving it a skim before, because I wanted to give it a real chance......HORRIBLE.

I defended Nicki on here before, as I do believe she has some talent and could be good. But damn, that new album is a bomb. It makes her first album look like Illmatic by comparision.

I think she needs a producer(not a beatmaker) but a PRODUCER to sit down and make her next album with her. Like on some Dr. Dre shit, tell her what lines to rap and how to rap them, and what to sing and how to sing it, and just construct the whole songs for her/with her. Because she can spit, and she can sing(for a rapper that sings), but I think she has no idea what the fuck she's doing because that album is a complete garbage ass, weird, unlistenable mess.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Nicki is talented, but she chooses to do extra shit that's unnecessary.

I swear if Nicki just made an album spitting like she did before she became famous and went mainstream, it would be a good album. But she chooses not to and instead goes pop so she can please her little teenage girl fans. And let's be honest, that's pretty much the only people that's buying her albums.

Yeah, agreed.

But I'm not even saying I want her to make some straight-forward, pure hip hop album.....I mean, that would be cool and she could do it, but I know there's like zero chance of it happening so i won't bother wishing for it.

But even in the pop lane that she's in.....she could do that so much better. Like she could make a really good pop-rap album. But this new one sure ain't it. The first one was much better, but she could do a lot better than that album too, in my opinion.

Do her fans really like this new album or are they just lapping it up because it's her? I recognize why the first album was so big with that crowd, but I'm not seeing it with the new one.

Most likely the latter. Nicki's fans are in the same category as Bieber's, Chris Brown's, Rihanna's, Beyonce's, etc.

Aka they're all crazy, delusional and obsessed and praise every thing they do even if it's terrible.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Glad to see that others recognize how overrated and terrible Lil Wayne is around here. On the topic of GRODT, I think it's a good album and I like a large chunk of it but a classic? Hell naw!

Anything new has been out? The only album I've listened to from this year has been Life is Good. But being very honest, I haven't listened to much music in the past few months other than when I'm out and play the usual golden age shit on my iPod. I've really been meaning to listen to more Big KRIT, just have not been keeping up with hip-hop for this year.

Impact and popularity eh. In an extremely one dimensional musical climate?
