Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

It really won't be a surprise if Game actually does end up signing with Cash Money. Just from the amount of collabs he's done with Weezy alone it makes sense for him. Game likes to be a part of something bigger than himself. Being able to ride around shouting YMCMB and name drop everyone on the label is right up his alley.

Before the proper album, Juelz Santana's new mixtape, God Will'n, will be out in early 2013 and will feature appearances from Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Wiz Khalifa, Jadakiss and more. Watch the interview with MTV RapFix below and his freestyle on the next page
Forget Wayne producing his album, look at those features! Where the fuck are Killa, Jones, Rell, Writer, anyone from Dipset? Damn, I'm not checking for that tape without at least one Dipset reunion song

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Game signing to YMCMB? Bad fit, and it won't help his career, but I see why due to his friendship with Wayne.

Only one apart of them to have street cred.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

The Grammy nominations are in, nominated for best rap album are:

Drake - Take Care
Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor II
Nas - Life is Good
The Roots - Undun
Rick Ross - God Forgives, I Don't
2 Chainz - Based on a T.R.U. Story

Hoping that Nas wins but expecting Drake to win. I need to go listen to that Roots album though...

I'm a huge Eminem fan. His albums are just everything.

Nas or The Roots please

and Eminem's albums are everything? I agree, his debut was okay, next 3 were awesome, past 3 albums were shit.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

The only Em albums I enjoyed were his first four.

But Encore, Relapse & Recovery were all shit. Recovery was the best of the three but that's not really saying much. His album with Royce was pretty good I must say, but Royce was eating Em on damn near every track.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Em is still an all time great though, despite the drop off in his music content.

Only thing that irks me is the people who'll argue he's the GOAT or a top 5 emcee. They're usually the same people who were in their teen years during his rise and also usually white. My brother being an example of this. Trying to claim Recovery was a great album is blasphemous. It just oozed corny pop rap which if you're into is fine, but it's not my thing and it certainly wasn't a great all around listen.

When it was first released I really dug Talkin' 2 Myself, You're Never Over, Going Through Changes, No Love, 25 To Life, and Space Bound. Now it's really just down to Space Bound. That song has always stuck for me especially since I can relate to it very well as of recent.

Relapse felt like Em trying to revive Slim Shady and attempting to go for another SSLP/MMLP style album. At first I didn't like it, but I actually have come around to that album a lot and like a good portion of it. I like it a hell of a lot better than Recovery. Beautiful is still one of my favorite Em songs.

I feel like Em is heavily overrated which is a shame because I feel like a lot of hardcore rap fans will shit on him for that and will overlook his talent because he is a really talented artist.

BTW, The Roots new album has been getting 5/5s everywhere it seems.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Close

Iron Man has my favorite track (Daytona 500), but Clientele is the better album. Both are dope albums though, Clientele is my 2nd or 3rd favorite Wu solo and Iron Man would probably make the top 10.
