Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Skyzoo is great, his main problem was production but ADD changed that. Kweli also delivered a verse of the year candidate on that album
Wu Block didn't come out yet, but it leaked. Comes out Tuesday
GFID after "Amsterdam" was horrible imo, Rich Forever was so much better.

Food & Liquor 2 Pt 1, Cruel Summer, and Soul Tape 2 (although it's growing on me) are my 3 biggest disappointments of the year. Live From The Underground to an extent is too, but it was still a good album. We all just had too high expectations after K.R.I.T's mixtapes I guess

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Take the best songs from Rich Forever and the best songs from GFID and put them on one album and you have a potential AOTY contender, not even kidding.

That's been Ross' problem on every album except Teflon Don, not even "depth" on his albums. Too much filler shit.

As far as biggest disappointments go: Cruel Summer and Live from the Underground are right at the top for me. Cruel Summer only has 5 good songs: Clique, Mercy, New God Flow, The Morning and I Don't Like.

Every single one of KRIT's mixtapes shit on Live from the Underground, I was highly disappointed from his debut effort. I'd take any of K.R.I.T. Wuz Here, Return of 4Eva and 4Eva N A Day over LFTU 10 times out of 10.

4. Killer Mike - R.A.P. Music
5. Schoolboy Q - Habits & Contradictions

9. Childish Gambino - Royalty
10. RZA - Man With the Iron First Soundtrack

HM: Big Sean - Detroit, Flatbush Zombies - D.R.U.G.S., Freddie Gibbs - BFK, Rick Ross - Rich Forever

Didn't know Wu Block came out yet and have no idea who Skyzoo is, but I'll look him up.

Skyzoo's dope. He rapped on Speed Racin' off Little Brother's Seperate But Equal mixtape(since I know youre an LB fan), when he was making his name and has worked with 9th Wonder quite a bit, so he's been down with that camp, and he's on Duck Down records.

Been playing his album a lot, just went back to it again....real solid....beats, rhymes, hooks, songs are all there IMO.

He's not bad. He had a solid verse on TINC3 (Spend It) and you should check out his LemmeHolDatBeat mixtapes.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I didn't like much this year.

1. Nas - Life Is Good
2. Sean Price - Mic Tyson
3. Xzibit - Napalm
4. Killer Mike - R.A.P. Music
5. Man With the Iron Fists

Still have to peep Wu-Block and Rare Chandeliers

^furious, projects self-image onto others^

Talent/charisma draws. Not size.

50 Cent Feat. Eminem & Adam Levine- My Life

Man, Eminem is done. He couldn't even give 50 a good verse, just retire, please! 50 on the other hand was hot, I haven't heard his flow being that on point in awhile

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I've only heard Nas and Xzibit's albums this year. Both were good. I absolutely love "Back When" from LIG. That MC Shan sample!

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

I'd say my favorite song from Life is Good was Daughters, with Accident Murderers as a close second.

Haven't heard Xzibit's album and I doubt I'll listen to it, never have been a fan of Xzibit. Just always seemed incredibly average to me, never did anything that really impressed me. Sure he has a couple nice songs/verses, but I guess you could say I've never been "blown away" by anything Xzibit did.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

^Agreed on Xzibit, although Paparazzi is one of my all time favorite beats. I actually like Xzibit more for Pimp My Ride than his music
