Dre shouldn't be on ANY album until Detox get's released. I don't care if 2Pac got reincarnated, drop Detox first you fucker. I know that's never coming out, but still.
I feel like all those guys are done anyway. Eminem hasn't put out a decent album in 10 years, and is well past his prime. Game and 50 were so one dimensional in the first place.....there was never a whole lot there with either of them. They aren't going to put out anything all that good at this point, they maxed out their limited abilities along time ago, and they have a much smaller audience for their gimmicky bullshit.

Dre doesn't even seem to do anything anymore but hawk his headphones, and rap a few verses here and there(always including a headphones mention).

I do think that Detox is a little more likely now, with Kendrick blowing up. Dre needs a co-star, and Kendrick is the first good candidate to emerge.....he's got the critical success as much as anyone can have it rght now, and he's doing well commerically too. With him, Detox would have a good chance of being both a critical and commercial success, and it could blow Kendrick up further. Win/win for everyone. Dre won't put it out unless it's a sure thing, and there's at least a chance of that with the way things are going for Kendrick. If it doesn't happen now, it never will......unless the headphones completely stop selling.

That's actually a really good suggestion, as far as Detox goes. I could see Kendrick kind of taking the role that Snoop had on Dre's earlier albums.

RIP to Natina from the R&B group Blaque. This could go in the R&B post, but she was the rapper of the group, Left Eye's protege, and for a while she was Kurupt's girl. I think they had a child together too.

33 years old, said she was killed in a hit and run accident. Damn.

And I have no shame in saying that I'll bump "Bring It All to Me" if it comes on the ipod. Damn good pop/R&B song.

The Roots - Things Fall Apart appreciation post........this is without a doubt a top 10 hip hop album in my opinion. Maybe top 5. The Roots have always been ill, but this was their absolute peak IMO. Musically incredible. There really isn't an album that sounds like this.

And Black Thought was/is obviously a beast on the mic, but so was Malik B! That's been missing from The Roots. They used to have TWO great MC's, with incredible chemistry.

Also, they nailed the guest appearances on TFA. Not a ton of them, but the ones they did have were perfect. Seriously, every guest was on a song that was perfect for them and they all knocked it out of the park.....from Mos Def trading rhymes like Run DMC with Thought on Double Trouble, to Eve being the perfect storytelling foil for Thought on You Got Me, to a young Beanie Sigel destroying Adrenaline, to Common continuing his "I Used to Lover HER" steez on Act Too (Love of My Life).

True classic album, 10 out of 10.

Wu Solo rankings:

OB4CL1
Liquid Swords
OB4CL2
Supreme Clientele
Iron Man
Beneath the Surface
Shaolin vs Wu Tang
Apollo Kids

Everything else I either wasn't feeling or I haven't listened to in awhile.

And yeah, Things Fall Apart is a classic. The Roots best album too, next one is Pharenology

Worst one is The Tipping Point. That album is a joke

I think Illadelph Halflife is easily their 2nd best after TFA. Gotta disagree on Phrenology and Tipping Point though. Tipping Point was decent, Thought killed it on that. The Web was dope. Boom was so dope the way he imitated Kane and Kool G Rap, I remember people really thought it WAS Kane and G Rap on that at first. Stay Cool, Guns are Drawn, and Star were great songs too. Musically it wasn't as dope as most Roots album as they got some just standard rap beats on that. But the rapping was good, and their were good songs.

My Roots rankings.....

Things Fall Apart
Illadelph Halflife
Do You Want More??!!
Game Theory
How I Got Over
Phrenology
Tipping Point
Rising Down (first 3-4 songs were incredible though)
Organix

Undun is excluded....really haven't listened enough to place it, yet.

I'll be honest, the only albums by The Roots I'm familiar with are Things Fall Apart and Illadelph Halflife.

Never was a big listener of them but I know they make great music. Have always wanted to listen to more of their stuff but never got to it.

I liked Rising Down outside of "I Will Not Apologize" "Rising Up" and "Singing Man"

I never listened to Organix so I can't comment on that

I don't like Organix.

Best Roots albums are TFA followed by Illadelph and DYWM?!!?!?. Phrenology is also good.
