Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

Don't see Dreams & Nightmares being a classic with songs like Young & Gettin It. If Meek can get some maturity and complexity with his raps, I hope I can expect a Mafioso Album from in the future.

Yeah that it's, don't how I could forget it.

Songs like Survival Tactics and Killuminati, just to name a few have been heavy in my rotation since I first heard the tape.

Hate to bring up Kendrick Lamar again

But has anyone listened to the Heart Pt 3? So much emotion (sounds like he's crying), and he channeled his inner Pac.

Goodie Mob's Soul Food album was pretty awesome. It wasn't until recently though that I've found out they were among the first to coin the term "Dirty South".

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

My Good Kid M.A.A.D. City ratings, after many listens. Only rating the main part of the album that's part of the narrative because that's what I had first and have mainly focused my listening on.

1. Sherane - 4
2. Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe - 5
3. Backseat Freestyle - 2.5
4. The Art of Peer Pressure - 4.5
5. Money Trees - 5
6. Poetic Justice - 5
7. Good Kid - 4.5
8. M.A.A.D. City - 5
9. Swimming Pools - 4.5
10. Sing About Me, Dying of Thirst - 5
11. Real - 3.5
12. Compton - 4.5

Rating scale:
5 - Great
4 - Good
3 - Aight
2 - Eh
1 - Garbage
0 - Vinnie Paz

Surprisingly I'm still not skipping the skits. Usually I start skipping them on most albums aftera few listens. Still listening to and enjoying these. Love the narrative. Seems very much influenced by The Roots - Undun. I'm looking forwarf to digesting the bonus disc songs, other than The Recipe which I've played quite a few times since it dropped. The others, I've barely heard.

Yeah, first time I remember hearing the term was on the song "Dirty South". Soul Food and Still Standing were both great albums.

Re: Hip Hop Discussion Thread

If you haven't heard it, I recommend Freddie Gibbs' latest mixtape "Baby Face Killa." Another good mixtape from him, with some good production and his lyrics were good as well. These were my favorite two songs on the tape:
