I still don't understand wtf the label "grunge" means, aside from some similarities in the voices all the bands sound different, has different backgrounds and influences and specially a different sound.
It's more to do with the fact that these bands all came from Seattle I think. It was just a movement of alternative music from the area labelled as 'grunge'. Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not completely certain.

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

Oh yes, i understand that, but if you want to create a new music label, make it about you know, Music. Not Because the members of the bands live in a fucking depresion, came from the same place or look like hasn't take a bath in years.

And is specially bad when you look at labels like "post-grunge", WTF is that.

Absolutely, they mixed metal, grunge, elements of glam, and acoustic stuff so well. They had their own genre, really. The tripod album was even getting a tad progressive. I just love that fucking band to death ...

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

I remember pre-grunge Alice In Chains Sea of Sorrow video being paired with Queensryche on the Pepsi Power Hour as two metal bands from Seattle.

80's hair metal is corny and lame...wait a minute. Um, yeah, it's going to be hard to find an unpopular opinion.

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

Death metal is some of the gayest shit ever invented. It's almost as bad as nu metal.

Children of bodom sucks ass.

Amon amarath is a pussy band.

Nargaroth & Burzum are the greatest bands to ever exist.

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

I generally find 95%+ of metal bands I hear incredibly dull. There's a select few bands I really enjoy, then very little else that appeals. That's across nearly all sub genres too.

I don't know if this is unpopular or not, but as far as it goes, I've always considered grind as being part of the punk side of the musical tree, and not metal, despite the obvious influences.

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

My most controversial opinion? Probably this:

Tool are the most overrated band of the 20th/21st Century.
