Disagree on all points, for many reasons. His best work came after Quincy, which is also when he took complete creative control of his music. Dangerous, HIStory, and Blood on the Dance Floor have depth and range that people who only know Thriller have no clue about.

Explain how he ripped Prince, because as far as I know, they both inspired each other and respected each other as artists. I like Prince, and he may be a multi-instrumentalist, but his body of work contains so much filler. Michael didn't try to fiddle around with other instruments when he knew that singing and dancing were what he was put on earth to do.

He didn't heavily depend on "video clips," he revolutionized the format. His songwriting and live performances are what separate him from "pop" artists. He came from an era when you worked and performed your fucking ass off to earn respect.

If you're going to have an opinion, know what you're talking about first.

Here's my unpopular music opinion: the vast majority of Michael Jackson's critics think they know far more about the man than they really do.

I agree with these. As for Metallica, Load, ReLoad and St. Anger are just as good as their other albums, and some of the hate they receive is absolutely ridiculous. I understand they're not for everyone, but aren't they allowed to try something different for once, even if it's only temporary?

I think the problem with Load and Reload is that they could have made one pretty good album out of those songs, but the filler far outweighs the decent songs on it. There's absolutely no quality control on it, which is bad news when you're completely changing your style to a more 'mainstream' direction, and your core fanbase is mostly metal fans, not the most open-minded bunch at the best of times. To get away with an alt-rock album, they had to make it fucking good, not two that balance at around average at best. Some good songs, but not certainly not 27 worth releasing.

As for St Anger, it's pretty bollocks. Horribly produced, repetitive music, some of Hetfield's most cringeworthy lyrics, repetitive vocals, the complete absence of guitar solos when you have a band member who's only job is soloing, it's WAY too long, all the riffs seem to be below the 5th fret on the lowest string, and for a band who usually had a fair amount of variety in their albums, it just sounds like one idea dragged out for well over an hour. It's a turd of an album, and it doesn't even sound like the same band that recorded Lightning or Puppets, let alone being comparable in quality.

My unpopular opinion - I really, really like screamo.

I stand by the fact that as far as early punk goes, bands like Buzzcocks, The Damned, The Ruts etc were better than the likes of the Pistols and The Clash (at punk, maybe later Clash albums aren't a fair comparison, but yeah, I think they're a little overrated, too). As far as UK punk goes, early Discharge & GBH were amongst the best. And hardcore was vastly better in almost every conceivable way.

This pretty much doesn't belong in the thread, but Rodan are one of the most underrated bands ever.

People that relentlessly shit on Justin Bieber are most likely jealous that his life is better than theirs.

Don't get me wrong, his music isn't my cup of tea at all but he's hardly the antichrist of music many make him out to be, there is a lot worse out there.

I realise where they're going and that WWE will push Roman Reigns straight to the top. However for me, Dean Ambrose is by far the most talented in that group and I think eventually if they just give him the spotlight then he's going to shine. As soon as he touches a mic everyone else can just sit down as he's magic on it. So It remains to be seen, I think they're all talented but to me Dean was the star of that group. I think Roman looks like the star of that group but I don't think he's nearly as talented as Dean.

Public Image and Metal Box are both almost-classic albums. Jah Wobble really set that band apart.

i know all his discs, thanks. Also, if you can explain why that discs has better depth and range it will be great

Style? Look?

I agree with the work of Prince having filler, but that doesn't mean that Michael Can't rip him. And yes Michaels doesn't try to play 100 instruments but there are obvious coincidencies in the look of them and in the vocal range that Michael was using since Bad

Yeah, that's what explain why after Bad he begin to make Videos larger each time he released a single and starts to introduce celibrity stars in them.

No one is saying that he wasn't a great live performer or a great songwriter, but much of his fame after Bad came from things like his Dangerous tour, his films or the kind of clips he was making, more than the music.
