Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

Butch Walker is bar none the Best American Songwriter currently working in the Biz.
Steven Wilson and Neil Finn are gods.
Iron Maiden bore me
Metallica's Load is a good Album
Guns N' Roses's Chinese Democracy is a great piece of music
Bon Jovi are good IMO
Megadeth haven't released a great album since Youthanasia
Can't stand most of the Seattle Grunge bands of the 90s. Pearl Jam's No Code is good though

Besides, it's impossible to separate emotion from music of any kind. What matters is the musician's knowledge of their instrument(s)/musical concepts and how they apply that to their idea.
I'd almost suggest a sliding scale. Each artist kinda has to get judged on their own merits, but I do personally have a leaning towards to emotional as oppose to the technical. Instrument mastery used to elicit an emotive response is optimal.

Maybe you could help me with a running argument I've had going with a cousin of mine. Who do you think are the better technical musicians, Lordi or Gwar?
No doubt Lordi got the edge with production value. I'm a big Gwar fan and I argue their diversity with elements of punk/thrash/jazz etc., while Lordi are pretty much straight-up hard rock to me. For some strange reason my cuz keeps insisting Lordi are the better musicians.

Nickelback is great. I really don't know why people hate on them so much.

Megadeth is as good as Metallica. I wouldn't say they're better, but just as good.

Beatles stink.

Nirvana is good, but overrated.

Dave's voice gets on my nerves sometimes. Megadeth is a pretty good band though, but Metallica's best is better than Megadeth's best.

Even though they don't touch Metallica's early stuff. Their Load and Reload albums are much better than people give them credit for. Unforgiven part 2 is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

I like the Foo Fighters more than Nirvana.

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

Michael Jackson is overrated

Lil Wayne in 97-98 10x>>>>> Lil Wayne today

Nicki Minaj is a better singer than rapper

If Aaliyah was still alive, Beyonce or Rihanna wouldn't be as big

Jay-Z and Biggie both were overrated

Nas killed Jay-Z with "Ether"

Adele sucks

Usher is the greatest R&B male artist of all time

DMX is the best rapper of all time

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

1. Lil Wayne is terrible
2. Jazz should be considered mainstream music.
3. Victor Wooten is the greatest musician alive today.
4. Jay-Z is the most overrated hip hop artist in history.
5. Dave Matthews Band does't suck.
6. Harp Music is badass.

Lots of good (full length) videos that dont suck (including wrestling) @ www.dailymotion.com/AntiFlag607, check it out.

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

I can't stand the majority of music put out nowadays. I probably couldn't name a single song of any of the current musicians that most people listen to. Whenever I'm driving, I have the station set to SiriusXM The Bridge, which is 1970s soft rock and folk music. I'd rather listen to a horrible singer singing their heart out than overproduced audibly pleasing autotune. The only recent bands/artists I've found that I like are Ray LaMontagne and Dawes. I usually listen to Warren Zevon, The Band, Gram Parsons, Sandy Denny, Tom Waits and other similar groups. Pretty much anything folk, roots rock or blues is what I'm going to be listening to.

This one probably isn't as unpopular on the internet as it is elsewhere, but I cannot stand rap music. I just don't get the appeal of it, but to each their own.

Re: Unpopular Music Opinions

Nickelback are pretty good/decent. Some of their songs are great for parties.

Beatles are overrated and their songs are really cheesy.

Punk bands are usually really, really bad (Ramones are an exception).

Metallica's last album is one of their best.

Jimi Hendrix is overrated and can't sing for shit.

R'n'B is the worst music genre that has ever existed.

Pink Floyd bores me to tears.
