Matter of preference I suppose. To me, playing from the heart can only take you so far. It won't get you the
circle of 12 tones, non-standard use of instruments, microtones.. and other elements of music that propel it beyond the known. Besides, it's impossible to separate emotion from music of any kind. What matters is the musician's knowledge of their instrument(s)/musical concepts and how they apply that to their idea.
