Re: Electronic Music

Though they obviously fall more under Synthopop I don't really want to make a new thread, has anyone here listened to CHVRCHES? Links in signature if not. I don't go out of my way to find new artists or anything, they were a recommendation to me, and I'm like a year late on the bandwagon so it's probably likely.

I've been giving it a listen for the past while. I have to say that the first 25 minutes were kinda boring and I was wondering what the fuss was, but after that it's got pretty awesome. Makes me want to wear shoulder pads and go drinking in wine bars.

Here it is for anyone who wants to check it out:

Like I said, after the 25 minute mark, it's fucking awesome.

Re: Electronic Music

I finally got round to listening to The Flashbulb's Arboreal after having it downloaded for months and I'm kicking myself for not listening sooner. Utterly mindblowing at the moment.

Re: Electronic Music

I love the new Daft Punk album. Didn't think much of it at first, but now only tracks #3 and #4 are skips. All of the other tracks have at least 10 plays.

Re: Electronic Music

New Boards of Canada full length LP officially out in June

Anyone that knows anything about electronic music know how important this group is, and how influencial they've been in the last 2 decades. The new album is nearly 10 yyears in the making, and it could be the best thing anyone's put out this year.

New song takes some time to build, but once it hits around the halfway mark, it turns into something special

Also super hyped for the new Jon Hopkins coming out in the same timeframe. He's almost like this generation's Brian Eno, and his last two albums were Downtempo IDM masterpieces imo.

Didn't get into the new single at first listen, thought it was a bit repetitive compared to what he did on his prior albums. Listened to it a few more times, let it sink in and now I love it. Great mood piece.

fucking psyched for June!

Re: Electronic Music

Oh shit, never saw this thread before. I love electronica. I wanted to post about Crystal Castles but Catalanotto beat me to it.

And as Oxitron says, CHVRCHES are awesome. Can't wait to see them in two weeks.

You're lucky. They're only coming to Sydney and Melbourne here, being in Adelaide is suffering... No one ever comes here...
