Though they obviously fall more under Synthopop I don't really want to make a new thread, has anyone here listened to CHVRCHES? Links in signature if not. I don't go out of my way to find new artists or anything, they were a recommendation to me, and I'm like a year late on the bandwagon so it's probably likely.
Spoiler for Thoughts on People who try to overthrow my wrestlingforum.com wrestling fantasy games de-facto rulership:
Just finished Japan - Tin Drum. Good stuff, surprisingly diverse and layered for what I thought it'd be based on the first track. Reminds me alot of the band XTC. The orientalism mixed with early 80's new wave took a bit of time to get used to, but they definitely did it better than Alphaville. lol
I've been giving it a listen for the past while. I have to say that the first 25 minutes were kinda boring and I was wondering what the fuss was, but after that it's got pretty awesome. Makes me want to wear shoulder pads and go drinking in wine bars.
Here it is for anyone who wants to check it out:
Like I said, after the 25 minute mark, it's fucking awesome.
You're fucken damn right, you've rustled my jimmies & I assume everyone else's!!! I tell you what, I'll pay your airfare over to Melbourne, it will only be a one way ticket though, because I will KILL you, you child molesting fuckwit!!!
New Boards of Canada full length LP officially out in June
Anyone that knows anything about electronic music know how important this group is, and how influencial they've been in the last 2 decades. The new album is nearly 10 yyears in the making, and it could be the best thing anyone's put out this year.
New song takes some time to build, but once it hits around the halfway mark, it turns into something special
Also super hyped for the new Jon Hopkins coming out in the same timeframe. He's almost like this generation's Brian Eno, and his last two albums were Downtempo IDM masterpieces imo.
Didn't get into the new single at first listen, thought it was a bit repetitive compared to what he did on his prior albums. Listened to it a few more times, let it sink in and now I love it. Great mood piece.
