Re: Electronic Music

Just finished Japan - Tin Drum. Good stuff, surprisingly diverse and layered for what I thought it'd be based on the first track. Reminds me alot of the band XTC. The orientalism mixed with early 80's new wave took a bit of time to get used to, but they definitely did it better than Alphaville. lol

asdf. good shouts and Bava picks. Coil automatically made me think of "Recoil", Alan Wilder's side project. You might dig it if you're into the darker, more experimental side of Depeche Mode's sound harkening back to the SOFAD/Ultra era.

Re: Electronic Music

I'm a huge progressive house nerd, it's a genre which often gets overlooked, perhaps it's too mellow for the club crowd, but still too dancey for the chillout fans. Maybe it's just misunderstood, if you go on the "progressive house" chart on Beatport you'll see the likes of Afrojack in there, which is just plain fucking wrong. Afrojack is as much prog house as he is gypsy polka. Anyway it doesn't matter, I'll post some tracks now -

Not that it should matter, but it has a 90 on Metacritic.

I'm even more excited for their upcoming tour.

Re: Electronic Music

I'm not too keen on RAM either. It all feels a bit flat and lifeless, especially after the ridiculous amount of hype, and talk of bringing "life" and "emotion" back to their music. This coming from a huge Daft Punk fan

I'm hoping it'll grow on me and I'll definitely give it more time to sink in, but for now I'll just have to stick with Homework!

You think so? I know it's far different from their other stuff, but it grows on you.

Re: Electronic Music

Don't even remember the last time I was excited for a new Daft Punk release. Must've been during the hype building up to Discovery after listening to Homework so much in Highschool.

Tron soundtrack was decent, though nothing mindblowing by any stretch.
