Re: Electronic Music

Does anybody know the band "You Love Her Coz She's Dead" ? I didn't like them at first because they used to sound alot like an 8-bit version of Crystal Castles. However, they just released that new song and it distanced themselves from CC. And it's actually very very good.

DAMN RIGHT

PUNK / BRYAN / AMBROSE / ZIGGLER / CESARO / ZAYN

PAIGE / AJ / BAYLEY / BLISS / BANKS / IVELISSE

So I finally got round to listening to Ben Frost's A U R O R A album after taking a break from ambient music and it's absolutely fantastic. Wonderful experimental/drone/ambient album. Gonna go a big Ben Frost binge me thinks.

Re: Electronic Music

Pretty sure I've put these songs up here before but here are the actual videos. Not that much to them but I enjoy the songs. Nice to listen to.

This is an amazing album. One of my favorite new discoveries of the year. A must listen for fans of Ambient/Neo-Classical w/ a hint of glitch, and it's done Live too.
Started downloading this Spaces album earlier and was screwin when it said it would take 90 mins or so to fucking download. I had other things to do so I just left it doing its thing. I had been checking a few tunes of his out on Youtube so I kept playing them in the meantime.

Almost exactly 90 minutes later the job is done so I extract the zip file. It tells me it's going to take 3 fucking minutes just to extract the file. I go off and do something else, forget about it, come back a bit later and suddenly remember to check if the thing extracted properly. I go to my download folder...

...to find eight new folders of his entire fucking discography.

No matter what else happens to me in life, today I win.

I can just picture you laying in bed at your local Hospital somewhere in France, paralysed from the waist down after drunk whizzing on an Electric Fence. I'm finding solace in the fact that under such circumstances, the smile on your face would remain because you now have ol' Nils's entire Discography stored on your harddrive.

Excellent stuff by Frost. Gave it a listen a few months ago and I completely concur w/ what you wrote.

....

New album I listened to this morning:

The Future Sound Of London - Environments 5 (2014)

Fifth installment in the Environments series of TFSOL archival material, but what makes this unique is that all the songs are apparently new. It's puzzling that they didn't give it an actual title because the songs here are quite good. It doesn't reach Dead Cities levels of greatness, but it's a reminder of what brought Cobain and Dougans to the dance. Recommended if you already enjoy TFSOL's psytrance/ambient brand of music, but i'd suggest getting into their 90's stuff first if you're new to them.

Then I venture around the internet to find out about this (dropping this month)

First new Aphex Twin LP in 13 years.

Re: Electronic Music

VHS Head - Persistence of Vision

Flat out, quite possibly my favorite album of the year so far. This obscure gem is incredibly interesting from start to finish on a technical level, but the combination of all it's elements come together so well. There's an incredible amount of variety in wild IDM banger cuts, but also has it's moodier moments. (ie. Dead To Morrow)

VHS Head relies on his massive collection of old b-movie VHS's to use as sample in his music (reminiscent of cEvin Key's Doubting Thomas project in the early 90's), but he's not just a master of collage and permutation, he's also extremely gifted at tempo shifting and mood manipulation. Much like Boards of Canada and Future Sound of London, there's a heavy reliance on Vintage Analog-based Synthesisers throughout that gives it a distinctive sound compared to most IDM on the market right now.

For hardcore movie Geeks, you can spend the entire running time trying to figure out which movie bits he sampled, but despite the underlying complexity, this is a dark, consistant, varied and highly eccentric album that will satisfy almost anyone who is looking to be challenged auditorily, even if you can be occationally overwhelmed w/ too many bleeps & bloops and shiftings. Give this a try, there's more than enough unique elements and surprises on here that helps it avoid being repetitive and tedious. Even though it's a fucking frantic album, it's far too well crafted to pass up.

The song "Electric Groove" from this album is amazing. Hell, anything form Lazerhawk is amazing.
