Re: Electronic Music

Just went through some of tracks on that Shiny Toy Gun album. Don't know much about them, but they do have a crisp production quality (really seems like they're using an old version of the Rolan Jupiter' Synthesizer line, the same line that Orbital uses to create their own sound). Track 04 I found particularly enjoyable in it's simplicity, reminded me of M83's music in the Saturdays = Youth period, same "dreampop melancholia" type of feel. Good stuff Cody

Spoiler for 2 tracks off Orbital's new album. Check them out when you have the time, you might like it.:

Ok so I fell on some 2+ hour Live Mix this morning from a few years ago, this is pure FIRE. Can't believe this guy isn't more well known with the insane talent he has.

Re: Electronic Music

Has Kavinksy been mentioned much in this thread at all? My gf just got me listening to him and he's pretty awesome. He gets inspiration from film and video game soundtracks from the 80s.

This album's called OutRun ffs. Too much win.

Yeah I heard about Kavinsky thanks to Drive (the 'theme' was a Kavinsky song). Not seen it here though. Will give the album a listen.

Also, VERSA just released an EP. Only 3 songs but well and truly electronic now. They used to be VersaEmerge, a pop-punk band, then the band was trimmed to a duo who released a few electronic/rock songs. Now renamed VERSA as a duo and they've gone more electronic than ever.

As I take two weeks to respond back to this, it helps as I've listen to the album a TON more since then. Track four - If I Lost You - has risen up the ranks to being one of my favorites. Can't make the comparison you did, b/c you slaughter me w/your knowledge tbf, but I'll remain astute and keep an ear out for the references. I know this album killed it w/the return of Carah and the band seems to be back in top form. That's what I can contribute here. I'm a wonderment of massive fascination. ~!

May have to take a listen at the links you posted w/this too. Replace "may" w/will someday. Don't slander me. This isn't Eyes Wide Shut level teasing either.

Kavinsky plug. Hell yes. Dude is great. Even beyond Nightcall. (but of course that's orgasmic all on its own)

Nouvelle Vague.

Listening now, the intrigue was too much.

Re: Electronic Music

This video's not electronic, technically, but I used to love trance when I was out every weekend popping pills and loving everything and everyone. I really need to learn this. I have an ex who plays and teaches classical guitar as well. IT CAN HAPPEN.

I've always dreamed of starting a live DnB band but I might just have found my new calling.
