Love when soundtracks go with the theme and scenes of a movie. Love Jones really is one of the best at that. I'd put Love and Basketball and Boomerang up there too. I can't listen to PM Dawn "I'd Die Without You" without thinking of the scene in Boomerang where Marcus sees Angela's design on the side of a bus and tries to get her back.

Current: This is my song right now:

I think some of his profanity is unnecessary but it's ok because the song is fire. It's on heavy rotation on my radio station. When I first heard it, I thought Miguel made this song.

That's The Weeknd for you. Profanity and drug references are in almost every song. Talented guy though.

re: R&B Thread

Was shuffling through my iTunes a couple days ago and came across this track, which has been in my rotation since then. Something about this song that I just really like, maybe it's the chill, groove type feel.

Everyone knows Mtume for Juicy Fruit, but they got jams. Way too underrated imo.

I don't know why but I'm not a fan of the way RnB/Soul is developing. I find The Weeknd, Frank Ocean and now Miguel's music style a little bland and too slow for music. Not enough rhythm for me, I don't know what has happened to music similar to Jagged Edge, Tyrese etc lately. Pop/dance music has definitely had an influence

I was a big fan of Miguel when he released All I Want Is You and I preferred the singles off that than Kaleidoscope Dream although I do like 5/6 of the songs from it.

re: R&B Thread

From 1985 and still sounds fresh 28 years later...

I know LL sampled it in the 90s, others probably have too. I love 80s synth beats and rhythms.

The Party and After-party is my favourite Weeknd track but its changing often, Im pretty late getting into him but I think the whole Trilogy might just go down as a masterpiece, finding new things to love with every spin of it, hear little influences of so much stuff I love all over it.

on topic, had my ipod on shuffle earlier and this came on, forgot how much I love this tune

re: R&B Thread

I love that song and Bootsy's bad ass bass skills since he was with James Brown in the late 60s-early 70s, and arguably JB's best band ever.

Beyonce did a cover titled "Be With You" on her debut solo album Dangerously In Love and while it's not the original, I thought she was killin it with her runs at the end.
