"cooler than Freddie Jackson sipping a milkshake in a snowstorm" - Big Boi, So Fresh So Clean

I can't hear or read Freddie Jackson's name without thinking of that line.

re: R&B Thread

When I heard Smokey and Big Boi talk about Freddie Jackson, I just assumed that was one of Michael Jackson's brothers or something like that.

But I love those groups that had that one female singing with a bunch of dudes. It was a great mixture for the love songs they produced. I mean it worked for Chaka & Rufus, Gladys & The Pips, and even a group like Rose Royce.

That is indeed a great album. One of my favorite hip-hop/R&B albums of the 90's.

Love the girl in that video. I used to watch this video when I got home from high school. Btw, does anyone remember the music channel The Box? My siblings and I would call in for video requests so much my mom put a block on 900 numbers!

Headliner, I know you love you some Janet dance videos:

re: R&B Thread

That girl in the video was something serious. I think he took the theme of the video from Michael's The Way You Make Me Feel.

Rhythm Nation is easily one of the best dance videos of all time. She stepped it up so much with that performance and you can say it really established her. I haven't seen the videos of If and I get lonely in a long time. My cousins use to try to emulate those dance moves in the mirror.

re: R&B Thread

I actually just did a Google search on the dancer from the Touch video, and her name is Danielle Polanco. She's from the Bronx teaches dance in New York. Here's some choreography she put together to Beyonce's song "Yes"

Sexy. Just had a quick flashback to when she did Touch live at the BET awards in short shorts and heels.
