This performance right here is nothing short of amazing! Luther being the vocal master that he is takes the song and flexes those vocal chops with runs while maintain perfect pitch. I have this concert from Wembley on DVD and it is a thing of beauty to watch. Luther had his own CONTROL of a song and could turn little nuances into special moments.

re: R&B Thread

Yes yes. Big Luther was awesome in concert. He knew what lines in songs to stretch for emotion from the crowd. In turn it made his performances that much better.

Some 80's randoms:

re: R&B Thread

Was listening to some Jodeci earlier today. Probably my favorite R&B group ever, what are you guys thoughts of them? Or did I miss the Jodeci discussion?

I think I might be the only Jodeci/K-Ci & JoJo fan that hates the song "All My Life". Never liked it, it just annoys me for some reason.

There was discussion on who is the best male vocal group of the 90's and it came down to Boyz II Men, Jodeci and Dru Hill.

Love this song but the last two minutes with Phillip's ad libs and the harmony are HEAVENLY

Think I cried when I really heard to this song. Not the first time I played it but the first time I really listened to it and took in the lyrics.

Simply a classic!

ALL TIME CLASSIC. Just beautiful.

Vocally I give it to Boyz II Men, but I'd still rather listen Forever My Lady or Diary of a Mad Band over any Boyz II Men album.

It's funny, I thought about making an R&B thread earlier this year but decided not to cause I figured it wouldn't have any success.

Ooh, we're going classic now? Sweet.

Clique, I just had to rep you. Earth, Wind & Fire has been my favorite band ever since childhood, GOATs for sure.

I could seriously go on all day, y'all don't even know. Words cannot explain how much I love those guys.

The IWC has a bad reputation. Are you a part of the problem, or the answer?

This the only EWAF song that I love that I don't think has been posted yet.

re: R&B Thread

Thank you Xist2inspire! So many great songs with incredible instrumentation, lyrics, vocals, and memories in the background(cook outs, steppin', weddings, etc). Man, I love Devotion and That's The Way Of The World!

More greatness from EWF

Ooooh!

This is that record!

re: R&B Thread

I grew up hearing most of this music, here's some more old school R&B.
