Surprising I only heard the version with Beyonce like twice or three times. Loved both Justified and FutureSexLoveSounds. Justin had the major advantage of having the Neptunes and Timberland on the albums but it still takes talent to put it all together so he definitely gets props.
Listening to Groove Theory right now and it's a shame Amel Larrieux never really had strong success as a single act. Then again the black dude in the Groove Theory group was the one arranging all their successful songs.
We were just talking about lip-syncing and Beyonce and this Inauguration "controversy" I see on CNN/ABC/etc. I think it's ridiculous that gets as much if not more attention than The President's speech. First of all, I do not believe she was lip-syncing. She sang live to a backtrack of the military band playing who she could not rehearse with beforehand. Secondly, IF she had lip-synced is it really that much of a problem when the overall performance was beautifully executed and no one could tell until that military representative said something? Finally, a higher ranking military representative came out later and said they Marine Corps Band is in no position to access Beyonce's singing/performance.
Sorry for the rant but I was a little ticked that so much media was covering this and trying to "expose" Beyonce as some sort of fake for whatever reason.
Who cares if she lip-synced? Whitney lip-synced when she performed the anthem at the Super Bowl, which is probably the greatest anthem performance ever.
It's not like Beyonce has a history of lip-syncing, this is the first time I can ever recall something like this happening with her.
Exactly Notorious! But guess it was such a big event attended and watched by such a huge audience that this story has exploded for whatever reason is more talked about than whatever The President said. Never mind before the military representative spoke every one was already talking about how she stole the show with her performance. I can't stand how media blows these stories out of proportion many times.
I'll tell you one thing, they gave Beyonce even MORE hype for her SuperBowl Halftime Show performance.

The media is pathetic. Period. They got stuck on a few stories at a time and just blow them up in the most obnoxious way possible.
I don't even like most of Beyonce's music but she is a fantastic performer, and seems like a pretty good person for someone at her level for that long(usually they all go nuts and turn into aholes, she seems cool)....there's absolutely no reason to go at her. She's obviously talented and tries to be a positive person and role model. If they really feel the need to be at an artists throat, there are plenty of untalented aholes out there to pick from.
Been playing this one a lot lately. I know it came out past Keith's "prime", but he can make slow jams like this forever.....the music world just stops treating cats like Keith as "relevant artists" once they hit a certain age even if their music is still 100 times better than these new cats. But anyway, this song is so smooth.

Reason: double post
The R&B cats nowadays don't even stay true to the genre, they're all wannabe pop acts or wannabe hip-hop acts. Ruining the genre. I can respect Frank Ocean, The Weeknd & Miguel because they actually make R&B music. But those other cats, nah. It's a shame that a guy like Chris Brown gets considered R&B when there's nothing R&B about his music nowadays.

No doubt. Like that bullshit that Usher makes now? And lots of others music sounds just like it......I'm stunned there's actually people alive who like that shit. People been trying to talk about "hip hop is dead" for a decade, but it's R&B that's been in much worse shape......because it's "relevant" artists all abandoned it or turned it into something real gay sounding.
I agree with this statement. Many of these black/R&B artists are "going pop" which today means create dance/techno music because it's what's popular, get's airplay, and makes more money. Smart moves for their careers and pocketbooks as my dad would say but the artistry leaves something to be desired imo. The thing is if artists like Usher, Chris Brown, and Rihanna, and even Beyonce and Justin Timberlake released more R&B centered music I think they could put more eyes on the genre as a whole and sort of breath more life into it because they are so popular.

So true. I've seen R&B artists who've been in the game 20 plus years release albums with hardly no hype/marketing behind it because of what you just said.

Spot on.
I like artists who stay true to themselves. That's why I'll always prefer a Maxwell to Usher.
