"What's Going On" is a song that is just timeless in quality. The message Marvin sang was profound and socially conscious, and can still speak to people today.

Damn...going through this thread makes me feel old. Stuff like TLC, Boys II Men, and other groups that were happening back in the day. I listen to pretty much everything, and I am a fan of classic R & B.

Stevie Wonder's music is timeless. Old(er) folks used to say "Stevie can sing the phonebook" he was that great. He's without a doubt one of the best male vocalists of his era. Stevie's at least Top 3 in my favorite solo R&B artists of the 70s with Marvin and Al. Michael counts too because he did some great records on his own as well as with the Jackson 5 during that period.

I've been really listening to a lot of Marvin lately, I think he might have become my favorite R&B singer ever. Gone way too soon. Just some smooth music with actual meaning behind them, great vocals, just a great artist.

Speaking of Stevie Wonder, I need to listen some more Stevie. I haven't listened to Songs in the Key of Life in a minute, it's one of my top 5 favorite R&B albums ever.

I really miss those great RnB groups of the 80's/90's. I mentioned them in another thread, but Portrait really doesn't get enough love when talking about great RnB groups. Their second album All That Matters is a press play and sit back album.
