Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Roger that.

Similar to Candlemass; I guess stuff like Into the Solitude Aeturnus - Depths of Sorrow and Pentagram - Day of Reckoning.

But the above list covers a ton of seminal doom so those would be my first port of call.

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Svart, listen to Warning, specially watching from a distance. Also Reverend Bizarre if you want real 70's doom, something in the sound of the classics like Trouble and pentagram

Also dont' get the critizing of Ethereal Mirror since most of the Doom is albums builds around the same riff. The epitome of this being the Drone.

ISIS plz.

Not quite doom but the booming, heavy repetition is there.

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Much love for this thread, some great stuff mentioned.
I give another vote for Watching From A Distance, great album,
for something Candlemass-ish but a lil slower and heavier id recommend Griftgard -Sacred, Solemn, Severe. One of my favourite doom albums of recent times.

^^really liked the 40 watt sun album when it came but just havent got any staying power out of it at all (unlike WFAD), anyone else notice how much his vocals are starting to resemble bob mould? (not a bad thing).

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Isis def do play a brand of post-metal that resembles doom now I think about it.

Panopticon, Oceanic ftw. You picked the two best in your OP.

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

For sheezy. Oceanic is godlike.

Going to throw on that 40 Watt Sun album. Really liked that track asdf posted; can't believe I didn't know Patrick Walker had a new band. Embarrassed.

Watching from a Distance is getting played again after all this talk. Gonna be non-stop doom metal for a few weeks.

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Saw Pat Walker play a solo acoustic gig in the basement of a record shop last year, quite good if a little too long (he played 90mins!) in a cramped room of people drinking beer.
Everyone shut up for Footprints though naturally, that was fantastic with just voice and acoustic guitar.
