I've had this Clash discussion with him before. He thinks that London Calling is their only good album. Personally I think he's crazy, there was a reason the Clash were called the only band that mattered. They are the best band ever in my book. THe Beatles are a close second though

Never bothered listening to The Clash, but most of the people calling them "the best band evar" (on last.fm) only know bands like Nirvana, QotSA, RHCP, etc.. Can't take much stock in that.

Never bothered listening to the Clash?! How is anyone suppossed to take your opinion seriously? Did you pass on The Who, Sabbath, and Stones too?

I think it has a lot to do with the hype. Any time someone hypes a band in front of me without a proper explanation, it just makes me want to steer clear. Of course I didn't pass on Sabbath, though. I grew up listening to 'em. |

The Clash really aren't that good, and definitely shouldn't be named along with The Rolling Stones and Sabbath.
While I'm here I might as well say that I've been listening to Physical Graffiti again lately, and I forgot just how amazing that album is. Could be my favourite album ever actually. Zeppelin are my favourite band ever though so take from that what you will.

I love that album, Night Flight and Down by the Seaside are two of my fave songs. Plus I just love how experimental that album is. That was Led Zep at their creative best.
