Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Nice one. I love that album.

Essentials would be Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, My Dying Bride - The Angel And The Dark River and Mar De Grises - Draining The Waterheart.

See how you get on with those and I'll be happy to reel off a bunch more recs

Thanks, man. I've heard of Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. Will check those out for sure.

Also I haven't commented on the induction of A Love Supreme. All-time classic. For me it's the second Jazz album I've ever listened to. I bought it for my parents on vinyl as a present.

I really enjoy their (Swallow The Sun) use of synths but haven't invested a lot of time getting into them... liking what I'm hearing so far off of The Morning Never Came.

Yeah it's a fantastic album. Got me into Jazz, and I've always found it a difficult genre to get into.

Similar to Opeth's usage.

Kind Of Blue was the first Jazz album I listened to and introduced in the amazing world of Jazz. It holds a special place in my heart.

It took me a long time to appreciate avant-garde Jazz and Dixieland. Now it's just so rewarding. Oh and I still think it's hilarious when people call Jazz "boring". Talk about having no clue.

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Pet Sounds is incredible (so far anyways). Can see this getting many plays from me.

Gonna check out some of the Deftones albums. I only heard their self-titled and Diamond Eyes in their entirety. I think I heard songs here and there from Saturday Night Wrist and White Pony. Gonna start with White Pony first.

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Downloaded most of the stuff from the alt rock category, and loved all of it so far. Thought Frengers was my favourite album of the lot, but Third Eye Blind (the album) is just phenomenal. Is the rest of their stuff high quality too? Would be interested to know if Mew and The Manchester Orchestra are consistently good with all of their albums too. Thanks.

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

^ Man I fucking LOVE Frengers. Other two Mew albums that are good - And the Glass Handed Kites and No More Stories..

. Third Eye Blind's debut is one of my favourite albums ever, unfortunately they didn't really follow up on it. Blue is a decent album but quite a bit below the standard of the debut LP.

Manchester Orchestra's Mean Everything To Nothing as good. At least on par with Simple Math, imo.

You got much else on the list you haven't listened to yet?

White Pony is their best Rockhead

Also, Pet Sounds =

Re: i$e's Magical Music Megapost

Thanks, I'll download those too.

I've only really gone through the alt rock category thus far. I'll have a look through the punk, post-hardcore and indie stuff soon too, plus some of the essentials I don't already have. Would have more if my internet wasn't total crap.

That Dredg LP is one of my favourites too.
