Yeah we don't sound like ROS. Well, we did on a few songs, but we either didn't record them or the guy overproduced the song so much we sound bland. We did record a demo ourselves that had I think two completed songs, including a 30 second pure hardcore blast. I'll see if I can dig that out of the vault. Me and the singer kept sneaking in screamo influences without the rest of the band knowing it, seeing as they'd veto anything 'emo' that wasn't from DC '85.

Hah.

I got asked to join a post-metal band last week. Still mulling it over.

I'm so sorry for not including this in my original essentials list. How embarrassing. One of the best records ever. Highly influential.
Tremendous. Really just an exceptional album.

May as well. Push it in a post-rock direction, and baby, you got an Et Tu Brute stew goin' on.

They're quite post-rocky atm. Problem is they're not THAT original and I don't know if I have the time to really address that.

+1 to Rumours being exceptional.

I say do it, if you enjoy the music and playing live/recording/whatever the band wants to do that's the main thing, and the originality will come as you get more settled in the line up.

God damn, the Witch Cult LP is incredible. Dirtiest feedback ever, and some top notch powerviolence.

I'd quite like to join a really good post-hardcore band rather than post-metal and stuff. Seems more interesting to play.

Motherfuckers need to stop worrying what albums aren't yet on the list and start acquiring the ones that are on the list that they haven't heard yet.

That is, after all, why I made it.

Definitely. Although one of my all time favourite records is Spiderland, love post-rock in general and recording a big, sprawling track is awesome, ultimately the most fun in the world is playing something a bit fast, a bit aggressive and just going wild. What instrument do you play?
