Downloading The Underdark on your recc as we speak. Somehow Funeral Diner are a band that completely passed me by, despite being a fan of pretty much everything else on the emo/screamo list. I have fairly high hopes.

Just noticed Boards Of Canada on the list. Very well played.

Static Age is a really great compilation album. I am a fuckin 'fiend' for Misfits, but only the Glen Danzig stuff. Jerry Only/Michael Graves' shit kinda sucks ass.

Earth AD is just about my favourite but that's because I love hardcore. Static Age has some of my favourite songs, though. I bought boots of all their 7"s from the Danzig era, love just sitting back and listening to Where Eagles Dare or Bullet or whatever.

i$e: listened to Blackwater Park this morning. Really, really good album, I get the feeling it'll take a few listens to really absorb. It's my first foray into melodic death and tbh, it'll sound weird but I find it hard to adjust to the lack of constant brutality, ha. I'll be absorbing more over the next few weeks I'm sure.

Just bought the Ravachol/We Came Out Like Tigers split, and the WCOLT s/t 7" (both dropped on the same day, to spite my bank account). Really awesome bands, like 90s screamo (FFO: Orchid, These Birds Are Spies, Suis La Lune, FTWIHATHHTTS, Saetia etc). Ravachol are more poppy, with female vocals. If anyone digs that stuff I definitely recommend giving them a listen.

Pretty sure this is what the cool kids call skramz.

Such a good album. Have you heard the Sed Non Satiata LP that's on the list? The perfect screamo album.

That was pretty much my first thoughts on the album. After the second or third listen I deemed it an absolute classic. Now I play it every 4-5 days. Still Life is arguably better, too.

Yeah listened to The Underdark and ...Are Dead earlier. The best thing about my job is the days where I can listen to shitloads of music, and those two records were a definite highlight.

I haven't, but I'm gonna check it out now. I was heavy into this stuff as an angsty teen and couldn't find half the LPs I wanted, then kind of drifted for a while. But after an amazing all-day gig (WCOLT, one of the recs there, played it)the love was reignired, so I'm playing catch up in a way.

I'm gonna give Still Life a listen over the next few days. Same sort of style, or more br00tal/more melodic & acoustic parts?

Paypal put a hold on my order of that WCOLT/Ravachol split apparently, fuckers suspecting my 10 transaction. At least it's a pre-order so I'm not holding on waiting for it to clear.

Still Life is a concept album, but yeah it's more heavy, apart from Face of Melinda which is one of the best acoustic tracks I've ever heard from a metal band. The opening track, The Moor, has one of the best riffs I've ever heard in my life too. I think you'll find it incredibly awesome.

It doesn't cost anything to find out! It just gets expensive when I get caught up on buying the wax...

But yeah, I'll check it out. Probably not til next week, I'm not used to budgeting to listen to hour long records anymore.

Sed Non Satiata is downloading now.

Does Magical Mystery Tour count as a Beatles album? Asking because I know its the soundtrack to the film. Either way its one of the greatest things I've heard in my life. Absolutely fantastic. An irrelevant sidenote but its hard to group songs and such on my media player, because The Beatles also did American releases, where everything is like out of place compared to how it was released in UK. I'll just group it according to the UK.

Also, I am a couple tracks into The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. So far its so great.

Oh yeah, anything Beatles man. Anyway, Round II. Modern shit mainly.

Round 2 Inductees
24/10/2011
-----------------

Album : A Lot Like Birds - Conversation Piece
Category: Post-Hardcore
Release Date : 2011

Damn. The instrumentation of Glassjaw, the melody of Hopesfall & the vocal arrangements of At the Drive-In rolled into one. The best post-hardcore released in a long, long time.

Album : M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Category: Electronic / Indie
Release Date : 2011

Basically an incredibly varied album, fusing electronica, pop, indie and elements of post-rock and progressive rock. Just a really, really good album that I think a lot of people will like. Catchy as hell, too. Chilled as fuck.

Album : (The) Slowest Runner (in All the World) - We, Burning Giraffes.
Category : Post-Rock
Release Date : 2010

The best post-rock album I've heard since Godspeed! You, Black Emporer's 'Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven', and I don't say that lightly cos' I listen to a lot of post-rock. Hidden gem, acquire with no hesitation.

Album : The Ramones - Rocket to Russia
Category: Punk
Release Date : 1977

The best Punk album ever. Nuff said.

Album : John Coltrane - Love Supreme
Category: Jazz
Release Date : 1964

The album that got me into jazz. Heartfelt, technically brilliant and utterly compelling. A worthy addition to the list and one that is very much an essential.
