It's comments like that which make me glad I run in the social circle I do (that and the fact my news feed today has mostly been about Sarah Kirsch, and La Quiete recording again)
Sad to say 90% of people haven't even heard of Neil Young.
Best piece of advice my father ever gave me
"Son, there are certain times in a young mans life when absolutely nothing will do but a beer, a joint and a Neil Young album".
I hope to pass that on to my own kid oneday

Had heard of him, years ago when I first got into him, but I didn't know his stuff until he played with Pearl Jam at (I think) one of the mid-90s MTV awards. Went out and stole one of his records later that week and been a fan ever since.
Hayseed Dixie's version of Rockin in the Free World is fucking wicked too.
Saw them live a couple of times a few years ago and it was one of the funnest gigs I've been to. One of them was hosted by Krusher from an old TV show called Noisy Muthas, if anyone remembers that.
I met the Krusher guy in a bar afterwards and he showed me his CD collection. He was pissed and I tried nicking his Tool Lateralus CD as he said he didn't really like them. He caught me red-handed but thought I was cool and gave me another CD, which turned out to be some random band's demo he had been given himself about five minutes before.
i$e, I might try to write a few reviews for you. Can't really promise anything because I've never written reviews before so I'm not sure how they will turn out.

Their final show is the only gig this year I genuinely regret missing. I've got everything they put out and still bought the discography LP as a back up. Such an influential band on the UK scene in recent years yet so underrated. Cold & Distant, Not Loving is a fantastic record and if you like heavy music or hardcore, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not listening to it at least once.
Well, I haven't heard of them before but I checked out Cold & Distant, Not Loving. Good recommendation, thanks. Ugh, 'final show'. Why do so many promising bands break up.

This seems to be true as sad as it sounds.

To stay on the topic of Neil Young, have you guys heard Psychedelic Pill? It definitely has some very enjoyable moments but some songs drag on too much, imo.
There seems to be a lot of hype behind Azealia Banks. I decided to listen to her EP earlier today, and it's a very solid album (even though it's four songs). Liquorice is fucking amazing, probably one of the best tracks released this year. I have yet to listen to any of her mixtapes.
