Nothing memorable this year except Lana Del Rey, check her album out. Crowning event of pop this year is Taylor Swift's new album in October (hopefully) :taylor3
edit- Speaking of Lana she has a new music video out that premiered yesterday I think
Freaking great song imo. Wasn't one of my favorites when I first heard the album, but its grown on me massively.
I wish this was a massive US hit, but Interscope hasn'tdone shit for this album in the states after the whole SNL incident...such a shame. Hopefully her EP/Mixtape in November will have much better success.. sort of like Gaga.
Somebody That I Used To Know is my freaking favourite song of the year with Call Me Maybe coming in a close second. But Somebody That I Used To Know will be a freaking classic in years to come.
There are lot of good songs this year IMO. There's Desperate Measures by Marianas Trench. Part of Me by Katy Perry. There's some good songs this year. Oh and what do you guys think of Conor Maynard's Can't Say No? The lyrics are pretty medicore but it's a catchy tune that's gonna make you wanna rape the replay button till you get sick of it. I think by next year everyone will forget about it but it will me at the top of everyone's playlist for the summer.
Gaga couldn't be the first to do any of the things she's done simply because Madonna & Cher carved the path for her. I'm just annoyed that what set Gaga apart from them is now being replicated by far too many other Pop singers right now. It's "hip" to be odd now all because Gaga blew up.
I know this post was made last year but finally someone else has also noticed this. Ever since Gaga bllew up like all of a sudden everyone wants to use the whole "I'm a weird freak" to get themselves over. Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry have all tried to mimmick Gaga's style so much. If it's not Nicki Minaj wearing a slice of cheese on her head it's Katy Perry wearing a Disco Ball.
The thing is, Lady Gaga's songs reflect her personality. The others? Not at all.
Bieber is trying hard to become the next Timberlake. That said, 'As long as you love me' is actually decent. Actually....it's good. I dig it. I am shocked. Never thought I would like one of his songs, but hey, there ya go.
