Re: Official Pop Music Discussion Thread
Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" has now become my biggest disappointment of 2010.
where's the fun? where's the cheeriness from her first album? there's no tongue-in-cheek sass anymore, it's like R&B beats, and her repeating the same five words again and again for 2/3 a song.
and sweet Jesus, "Peacock" is a dreadful bastard of a song. i thought i was listening to Ke$ha.

Re: Official Pop Music Discussion Thread
peacock's not very good but the rest of the album is. not sure why you don't like it ( i read your criticism's but don't really think they're valid) but I think it's really good.
different tastes I guess.

Re: Official Pop Music Discussion Thread
haha how are my criticisms not valid? it's just not a very interesting album. a lot of the beats are repetitive, she's not nearly as entertaining when she's not being as fun as usual, and even califurnia girls was less catchy than her old stuff.
i mean, different tastes of course, but i'm pretty sure my criticisms are completely valid.
a lot of the stuff i liked on the first album aren't there on this one. i find it hard to argue this one has a different overall sound, it's just whether you like it or not. and i just didn't happen to like it.

I still think it was excellent. I think "Pearl" is now my favorite track.
Apart from Peacock I can really listen to any of the songs over and over again. Really like it.

some of them have some validity, others not really. it sounds nothing like r&b beats? that one in particular is really bizzare, not at all sure why you think that. there's plenty of fun songs on there, california girls, peacock, last friday night. I mean yea they're not all like that but w/e. not sure how many of the songs repeat 5 words for 2/3 of the song though. can't say i've noticed that.
i mean i think this album stacks up pretty well against both what she's done and what most other people have done. really great effort overall.
e.t.'s still the best song on the album btw although 'who am i living for' is growing on me a fair bit.

Re: Official Pop Music Discussion Thread
Bruno Mars's debut album out on October 5th apparently entitled Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Really liked his EP, so am anticipating this.
