"Sometimes I wake up early to say goodbye, just in case you don't come back." That's emotionally charged. Not like todays "I want everyone to know when I'm going to kill myself. LOOK AT ME!!!!" emo. Now more........
These guys are more expiermental rock than alt but the sound is uncanny. Of course I'm talking about Faith No More and their best song(sorry Epic fans).
To say they Oasis weren't the best British band of the 90's is completely idiotic. They completely shat over all other British bands, the only one coming close was Blur. Noel was/is a complete and utter musical genius, easily one of the best songwriters of all time. And Liam, no one has a voice like his, his voice is stellar, awesome. Yea they might not be the most ''popular'' celebrities, but their image is what made them what they were. A lot of the time, the things they said is what most people were thinking at the time but were too scared to say. Definitely Maybe and What's The Story Morning Glory are two of the best albums of all time, let alone the 90's. And also, there's a reason why What's The Story, Morning Glory won best album of the last 3 decades at the recent Brit Awards. And for the short amount of time that Liam was on stage, he completely stole the show and he was what everyone was talking about after, much like their appearance at the 1996 Brit's. Of course I'm not as narrow minded to think they were the best band of all time(that's reserved for the likes of The Beatles, Stone Roses) but they are definitely up there. Oasis will simply and surely ''live forever''.
I'd add She Don't Use Jelly by the Flaming Lips in there Pandemic. The 90's had a lot of those quirky rock songs that still managed to get played on MTV which you just don't get today.
As for this Oasis discussion, I think they're a great band but it slipped my mind that I also listen to the Verve who I think is a better band. Forth sucked though.
The Verve were great, but better than Oasis? Come on. To me, The Verve only had two real standout songs which were Drug's Won't Work and Bittersweet Symphony, which I would regard as probably the greatest song ever written.
Actually, thinking of the 90's, Depeche Mode made some of their best stuff during those years, so they'd be a close second behind Oasis for best of the 90s.
Songs of Faith and Devotion imo. All the songs were epic.
Oasis are great, luckily i managed to see them live at wembley stadium last year before their split. Noel Gallagher is a legend, looking foward to hearing some solo stuff of his.
Personally some of my favourite songs are:
the Masterplan, my favourite oasis song, noel gallagher says its one of the best he has written.
half the world away
sad song
champagne supernova
dont look back in anger
slide away
I notice that a few of the one's you've listed are the song's sung by Noel. Noel was always a better songwriter than singer. In my opinion the only song's sung by Noel that could be regarded as classics are Don't Look Back In Anger, The Masterplan, The Importance of Being Idle, Talk Tonight and Acquiesce(Even though Liam sung most of it) Noel could hit the high notes perfectly, and don't get em wrong, some of the songs he sung are classics, but they don't just match up to Liam's, no one could sing quite like him.
My personal favorites would be:
Some Might Say
Live Forever
Acquiesce
Champagne Supernova
Supersonic
Morning Glory
The Importance Of Being Idle
Rock n Roll Star
All of Oasis's song's are wonderful, but they are the one's that top it for me.

I'd probably rephrase that to say I prefer The Verve to Oasis. Who the better band is is up to opinion. A Northern Soul and Urban Hymns were both good album by the band, not just those two songs you mentioned. They're similar in some way but have a different style to Oasis. I read both lead singers are friends so it's all good anyway.
I also really liked Sonic Boom. Modern Day Delilah, Hot and Cold, Danger Us(corny chorus I know but other than that it's a solid song), All for the Glory, Say Yeah, Stand, and Russian Roulette are my favorites from that record.

I guess it all comes down to personal preference at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of The Verve. Richard Ashcroft is practically a god of music to me.
