I didn't say it new rock isn't real rock home boy. All I said was I don't like rock music today. I'm a classic rock fan. Why are the Rolling Stones, AC/DC like Rajah posted and the Who still selling out big stadiums and your Lucana Coils or however you spell it and all this crappy new metal music can't do it or have any mainstream attention? Alright it could be because the mainstream and record companies choose to sell rap music because the stupid rich white folk choose to look cool and play it instead of listening to the good music that this thread is devoted to. Whatever the reason I still think the old stuff is just on another level. It's almost like comparing wrestling from the 60's-90's. You just can't compare it. Now it's real music, yes it is. Unless it's some crappy Limp Bizkit or Korn shit. Then it's not good music or what you'd call real in my book.

The kids today have all this great music to listen to and the thing is it's pisses me off so much that none of these bands use the old stuff as their influence for the better of music. The raw emotion of a 50's doo wop song. The artistic pshycidelia of a late 60's song from that era of rock. Until people start caring about rock music today and it gets on a little higher level and isn't all about the money and the guys acting like big porn director morons and talking about saving whales and getting into politics I'll never take rock seriously again. The 60's-90's were the best times. Once the late 90's came rock got killed and put to sleep by something. Don't know what but it just died to me.

Honestly. I can't stand you fucking music elitists that shit on everything from today because it's not like "the good ol' days." I'm a classic rock fan too but I can generally keep an open mind to most music of today, no matter what the genre is. It's hard to take your viewpoint seriously when you're all up your ass saying "Lacuna Coil sucks." "Korn sucks." "Rap music sucks." Alright, I get it. It's not your style of music, kay cool. Don't go around trying to convince us that we should be listening to all the classics because the music of today can't cut it for you anymore.

It's incredibly unfair that you'd call mainstream rock acts not real. Even if it's not the most technically credible song on the planet, it doesn't change the fact that musicians still pour their heart and soul into the songs they write. Being in a band, I know how it feels. Who the fuck are you to question how "real" a song is to somebody? A 14 year old kid might find a Simple Plan song to be the most important song in their life, should he be slapped because you think it's not "real" music?

Furthermore, how do you know that rock bands of today have no influence from yesteryear? I personally can hear influences from every direction in every rock band of today. You do realize that bands trying to take too much from classic rock ends up being a big fail right? Look at Airbourne & Jet, I like them and all, but they really are just ridiculous copycats of your precious bands from yesteryear. Anyways, I don't care that you don't like today's music, just stop trying to push on us that it's all terrible and we should all, "SEE THE LIGHT AND LISTEN TO CLASSIC ROCK!" Because alot of the people here do, but alot of the people here also can keep an open mind to alot of other things too.

PS. In my personal opinion, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are incredibly overrated.

Ha bla bla bla. You finished crying? What was crap in the 70's Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd? Please. I never got into some bands from the 70's like Wishbone Ash and Moby Grape and so on. That doesn't mean it's bad music. What I consider bad music is added in with sound effects and those loud booming shit you hear in rap music and some of the crappy rock music of today that you have a open mind for. If by crap you mean outside of rock then there are probably quite a few terrible disco songs from the 70's or bands like Kraftwerk and all that electronic stuff was terrible. Floyd is overated is so laughable. Put that statement in Simple Plan's pipe with the 14 year old kid and smoke it. Floyd has so many great emotional songs and classics. Just because you've heard Comfortably Numb 5 million times on the radio doesn't take away from the fact that it is a work of art and made at a better time in this world for music. The same could even be said about a Fleetwood Mac song. It's amazing how they could make a song that is so iconic and seems yet simple and when you think about it it's so hard to have thought up and record. Something your band and your generation will never succeed.

PS The 14 year old kid should get slapped when he turns 18 so I don't go to jail.

And for your information, I may find Pink Floyd overrated, but I do like them seeing as how I have all their albums and The Wall is one of my favorite albums of all time. I think they've become horribly over-saturated however. Also, I'd like to point out the irony in you saying that you hate "those bands with the added in sound effects" when Pink Floyd pioneered that. And look! There's that influence you think no modern rock band gets. Hmm.

AC/DC are the ones I could care less about because they are for whatever reason everybody's favorite band these days. Like you with Pink Floyd I like AC/DC but I just feel they are the overrated among everybody else by my own taste in music.

There is nothing wrong with being narrow minded in this situation. Music today is garbage.

I think I used an improper word, but what I was trying to say is that everyone I know around here associates Pink Floyd with a lifestyle and not the music. I've lost count of the amount of people I've talked to that strut around here saying Pink Floyd is their favorite band when they can only name two of their songs. In my experience, Pink Floyd is the ultimate bandwagon band and the ultimate band used to enhance one's image. Wanna look like a sick classic rocker? Wear a Pink Floyd shirt!

In that sense, I don't find the music of Pink Floyd overrated, I find that the fanbase overrates them, especially youth because many of the ones I've experienced don't actually understand Pink Floyd nor know any of their music. Yet, they still walk around discouraging modern music, getting stoned, and talking about how Pink Floyd is "the best band everrr." "That Wish You Were Here song is sick!"

I discourage modern music and if they are like that then that can only mean they do know Floyd and listen to more then just two songs of theirs.
