Look on YouTube - Songs that sound the same - I think it is. There are heaps of them.

Check out this one. Stairway To Heaven is so unoriginal.

Damn, the greatest rock song of all time copied or coincidence? Who knows. I gotta look more into Spirit. Never heard of them but I've never been that big into late 60's acid rock. That Spirit song had a eerie feel to it. I remember as a kid the first time I listened to the song Because by The Beatles from the Abbey Road album I got a similar eerie feeling listening to it. It's almost like the song is magical and spiritual. A lot like Zeppelin seemed to be but Zeppelin is more hard rock and a pre runner to metal music.

The irony is Led Zeppelin actually supported Spirit in the late 60's.

You never know. If the bands were close maybe Jimmy Page inspired the Spirit song and then Zeppelin made their take on it. I just don't know. I'll have to hear that whole Spirit song. It sounds similar but I'm guessing it dosen't start off slow, rock out then end slow like Stairway.

The song, Taurus, is a instrumental that goes for just under 3 minutes. The Stairway similarities start around the 44 second mark.

"Guitar World Magazine, April 1997: "[Randy] California's most enduring legacy may well be the fingerpicked acoustic theme of the song "Taurus," which Jimmy Page lifted virtually note for note for the introduction to "Stairway to Heaven.""

It is "widely accepted" that Jimmy Page "borrowed" the progression for Stairway. Spirit seem flattered more than anything as no legal action has ever taken place, unlike some acts.

Yeah I have that album too, it's very good. I was talking about the mainstream and what you see on T.V. I don't know how many times I saw the black eyed peas performing on my television screen this year. Every time I kept thinking " how is this popular", it's not any good.

I've given up on mainstream rock, although I don't mind some it. I visit a couple of rock sites and get mot of my music from there. I read the reviews and download it. If I was to reply on mainstream for Rock I'd have a very small and crap collection.

I like Nickelback, went and saw them a few weeks ago. 3 Doors Down have a few good songs. Not much else out there in my book on the radio.

Most of what I listen to never gets played on the radio.
