Atreyu = VERY high expectations from me , I think everything they ever made is great , the worst stuff they ever made is still very good music so I expect greatness out of them

I'm just gonna guess that I will consider the album a full 5 star album , once I do have it

A 3.5 is the equivalent of a 7/10-7.5/10. That is the score of a solid and good album in my eyes. I don't really see whats confusing about my score. I never called the album excellent or the best all year, but I did praise a couple of songs and say I wasn't disappointed. I think I was clear with the review.

Yes, actually just finished it now. Review:

Creed: Full Circle- highly anticipated album since their reunion, and their first since 2001's Weathered. I own Weathered and say its a great album from start to finish. Full Circle is also very pleasing. Heavy riffs, great lyrics, and Scott Stapp seems to never have missed a beat. Every song on the album is great (with the exception of "Bread of Shame", which may grow on me eventually). Best songs in my opinion are "A Thousand Faces", "Good Fight", and "On My Sleeve". Is it better than Weathered? Not quite, but very close on the first listen. A couple more listens might make this my favorite Creed album.

If there are any Rammstein fans out there they released their new CD just recently, last week I believe. I really like it. It might just be their best record yet imo and I'm a huge fan of all their work

I give out 5 stars to stuff pretty easily compared to you guys

Any albums from this year you did give 5 full stars (Rockhead/Foreshadowed)?

I'd say "Crash love" by AFI acheived that

I haven't given an album the full five stars (or 10/10) this year but I have about four or five albums that reached the 4-4.5/5 range.

Just because we haven't given an album a 5 doesn't mean our views are wrong. We may have thoroughly enjoyed an album but felt it didn't quite reach the full 5 range. That can happen you know. Again, nothing wrong with that.

We don't all have the same opinion as you, I'm afraid. Plus, it's fine if we are critical when it comes to reviewing albums.

TDWP's album received a 5 from me. And not giving out 5's doesn't make me a tough critic. I think there were a couple of five star albums that released last year. I have given out some 4.5's this year as well.

I have been listening to Congregation of the Damned non-stop the last 3 days while playing Borderlands(fantastic game btw) and I must say, I love it. I may post a detailed review of it later if I'm not lazy.

Also on the other topic, I would say Congregation of the Damned, White Lies - To Lose My Life, and Muse - The Resistance are 10/10 worthy imo.

Rating meanings (Imo) :
5 = As good as a song can be , PERFECT , contender for greatest song ever made , ridiculously enjoyable , and so forth
4.5 = Very good
4 = Good
3.5 = Pretty good
3 = Decent
2.5 = Arguably bad
2 = Bad
1.5 Pretty bad
1 = Very bad

Spoiler for "My ratings for each individual song which are averaged out to make the overall album rating:

Average rating : 4.3 Stars

Overall doesn't seem to be the best Atreyu album or anything but it is good overall

I generally don't care if stuffs a bands best work or not , I get tired of even the best stuff bands ever make so even though Atreyus 2nd album is their best ever , I like to keep my music new and listen to new stuff mostly , once stuff gets old its well... old you know? Even if its great it will just get occasional plays once it gets old

Note : All music I buy always grows on me and soon its ratings all go up even higher than whatever their initial ratings are , so its actually even higher than that and thats saying alot (Remember I called "Crash love" by AFI 5 stars? On 1st listen on myspace I thought like 3 and a half , but then bought it and now its 5 easy)

On another note the 30 second previews for all the songs on The Almosts new album are on Itunes now , sounds GREAT (Sounds better than the Atreyu CD)

It isn't a rare thing from me in giving out 5 stars to albums as I did that last year. I may end up giving the Dead By Sunrise and The Devil Wears Prada albums the 5 star treatment before the end of the year but that isn't definite. Both albums were incredible but they both had a couple of negatives on there, which kept me from giving out the full 5 stars for each album.

Like I said, it's fine to be critical when it comes to reviewing an album but I wouldn't classify myself as a "tough critic" just because I haven't given an album a 5.
