I could also say the exact same thing about the versions of the songs you like. When you've heard a band use clean/screaming vocals you've heard them all before. Loud start - screaming - chorus of clean vocals - then back to aggressive screaming - back to soft etc..
I still think that music has one of the most diverse selection of styles in almost all media. People are always going to have different tastes and yes people are going to differ in opinion. So what if they didn't like the clean vocals? To them that's not the band that got into in the first place. They can just move on to another band to support.
They probably just like the consistence with the songs. The aggression is never lost if Alex's vocal are there and not the drummers(Brandon?). But screaming is very hard to pull off, I know I'll probably like them more if they stayed with the screaming, but I don't. Plus there are a few bands that I do like which use the Clean/Screaming vocals very well.
Anyway, Pre-ordered the new Slayer album off Amazon last night. Ordered the Limited Edition CD/DVD combination. I've loved all the songs that I've heard so far, so I'm really looking forward to this. Can't wait. Probably going to be my Album of the Year.

Couldn't agree with this any more. Whether your screaming, singing or fucking yodeling it posses talent and hard work. A band like Atreyu could sound good to me and bad to you but that doesn't make them any more talented just by the style you enjoy more. Music is music, obviously there's an audience for both styles just be glad you liked something they created.
New Slayer? Fuck yeah!

I pre-ordered it over a month ago but in typical Play.com fashion this year, I'm getting it on Monday and not a couple of days early so therefore, I have yet to hear it. I used to enjoy ordering off Play.com as they actually got CD's to you on the weekend but this year, they've been bad by mostly getting it to me a few days late.
Anyway, from the reviews, I believe I might like a lot seeing as it's a mixture of heavy rock songs with some strong rock ballads. Plus, with the addition of electronic sounds and Chester's awesome voice, I know this will be a fantastic album.

I'll be getting World Painted Blood, but the songs that they've released so far have been a bit mixed for me. The title track was poor, "Hate Worldwide" had some good and bad points, whilst "Psychopathy Red" was pretty cool. I really enjoyed Christ Illusion so it's going to have to be a fairly strong effort if it's going to top their previous album.
Regardless of new album quality though, I'm still definately going to see them this November.

Re: Official Rock Discussion Thread
I've been listening to Out Of Ashes by Dead By Sunrise non-stop today and it's definitely in my top 3 Album of the Year list. An incredible side project by Chester Bennington, who really showcased his singing and writing talents here. Some of the songs written on this album are fantastic and the way his voice hit the high notes on some of the rock ballads, and then he would scream his lungs out on the heavier rock/grunge tracks was outstanding.
This album is what Minutes To Midnight should have been like - heavier but still with a more creative side. I really like the way each song sounds different, unique and meaningful. The combined genres of hard rock/post-grunge/metal and electronica was done well here on an absolutely flawless album. I'll hopefully post an in-depth review of the album soon.
My favourite tracks so far are:
Fire
Too Late
Inside Of Me
Let Down
Give Me Your Name
My Suffering
Walking In Circles
Fantastic album.
Also, We Came As Romans are releasing their debut full length album, To Plant A Seed. I'll definitely be getting this album for Christmas.

Re: Official Rock Discussion Thread
Just discovered that two other albums are releasing this year. Weezer is releasing their next studio album entitled Radtitude. And Rob Zombie releases his 4th studio album entitled Hellbilly Deluxe 2. So excited about Zombie's album as I am a huge fan of his solo work.

Hell yeah loving the new Atreyu and AFI video. Storm to Pass is freaking epic. And being a huge fan of Atreyu I will say that it is my favorite song by them.
