I know what you're talking about when half of Atreyu fans are retarded when it comes to their music. I have loved everything that Atreyu has put out, even some of Lead Sails. I have been listening to them since 2004, and they have been one of my favorite bands ever since.
I'm sure the album will be great as a mixture of both. I'm not like the other so called "fans" that will stop listening to them if it's more mainstream.
I would like to know your opinion on what you think is their best work.

I consider "Lead Sails Paper Anchor" their best album actually (Hoping the new one can top it)
I think so far Atreyu has always 1 upped their previous album as every new album they make comes out and is better than the one before it , so the new one SHOULD be better than LSPA judging by how Atreyu is always 1 upping themselves
I got your PM and after reading this I will eventually reverse that by repping you up some time later when it lets me if I remember to
I just am so tired of hearing people all over the internet saying "LSPA & Storm to pass SUX! HEAVY ATREYU FTW D00D!" and I thought you were being one of those people

Lead Sails isn't my favorite, I like The Curse more, but I own all their albums, and enjoy them all.
Atreyu has a weird fanbase that some don't support them if they try something new, and different. Which IMO isn't a real fan at all. I'm really excited for the new album

Just listened to the new Foo Fighter's song "Wheels". I don't know what you guys are talking about, I think its freaking great. That guitar riff is so catchy. I've always loved these guys, and can't find much bad to say about Dave Grohl. They can make a whole album with songs that sound like "Wheels", and I would buy it.

Re: Official Rock Discussion Thread
WHOA look at this awesome Skillet shirt I found on their official webstore
I want that shirt , but would feel kinda wrong about it because I'm not like very into Skillet or anything , I love like 5ish songs by them but I find them to be a band that literally does seem to use "filler" songs for their albums
Stuff like "Rebirthing" and "Monster" = AWESOME , stuff like "Should've when you could've" and "Its not me , its you" is just like uhhhhhhhhhhh I mean I can sit there and listen to it but theres not really any enjoying going on

I don't own any of the other Atreyu albums but I own Lead Sails Paper Anchor and it's one of my personal favourites. I have heard their earlier material and enjoyed it, however, there was something about Lead Sails Paper Anchor that stood out. All the songs sounded different and unique and you could tell that Atreyu put a lot of hard work and effort into this one and wanted to do something new, which they accomplished. A great mixture of heavy and soft tracks with a little twist in each. Fantastic album and I can't wait to get their Congregation Of The Damned album this Christmas.
For anyone that is interested, you can head on over to the Dead By Sunrise Myspace website to listen to their debut album for free:

Good to see that someone else who likes Atreyu appreciates good & artistic musicianship more than albums that sound like 11 versions of 1 song + 1 ballad
I bet the stupid Atreyu fans would love LSPA if they just redid it with all of Alexs vocals screamed instead , as if screaming is actually some amazing thing that is the only thing that makes their music any good

So just because they added clean vocals into the mix their musicianship has suddenly changed? Regardless of who sings on the tracks their musicianship hasn't changed. They still play the same style that they have done from the beginning just with more of a softer tone. But they could still do that even if they only had screaming.
I could also say the exact same thing about the versions of the songs you like. When you've heard a band use clean/screaming vocals you've heard them all before. Loud start - screaming - chorus of clean vocals - then back to aggressive screaming - back to soft etc..
I still think that music has one of the most diverse selection of styles in almost all media. People are always going to have different tastes and yes people are going to differ in opinion. So what if they didn't like the clean vocals? To them that's not the band that got into in the first place. They can just move on to another band to support.

They probably just like the consistence with the songs. The aggression is never lost if Alex's vocal are there and not the drummers(Brandon?). But screaming is very hard to pull off, I know I'll probably like them more if they stayed with the screaming, but I don't. Plus there are a few bands that I do like which use the Clean/Screaming vocals very well.
Anyway, Pre-ordered the new Slayer album off Amazon last night. Ordered the Limited Edition CD/DVD combination. I've loved all the songs that I've heard so far, so I'm really looking forward to this. Can't wait. Probably going to be my Album of the Year.

I just gotta ask, why do so many Americans (and many Canadians too) hate Oasis?
