Anybody bother with the Lou Reed/Metallica album that's out? From the reviews I've heard at best it's terrible and at worst it's possibly one of the worst albums of all time.

Really want to get into rock since hearing this...

Strictly 90s stuff similar to this. I've heard new age rock and it sucks. The 90s grungy, angsty style of doing things has always appealed to me. If anyone has any suggestions please drop 'em. Thank ya.

that's one you'll probably like too, considering you mentioned angsty. oh, and get Alice in Chains discography if you haven't. most of it is pretty great. there are more (obviously), but i'm a lazy muthafucka.

Weezer - Pinkerton is a must have from the 90's. Third Eye Blind's self-titled is also essential for intelligent rock of that era.

Obviously they're not as 'ROCK' as 311 were as such (standard rec there is just Rage Against the Machine).
